gotta throw in my .02cents
Roadrunner is a dirtbag company, their O/Os run some of the nastyest POS's on the road, and run very illegal. We pull freight for them allot, and see allot of them and their opteration.
Forward air could be a option but they are 100% team company. Their freight is typically very light which is great for fuel. But i do know they havent raised their fuel surcharge in almost 10 years or so. BCTruck on YouTube has been an O/O team with his wife for more then 27 years, and leased to Forward Air for the last 15+ years. They just had to sell their truck and move into a company truck.....you might wanna talk to brad threw youtube about them before you go there.

Thanks a/t forward air has solo lanes as well. I've already got orientation packets from all of em. And yea I have heard negative things about rrts. But the numbers are there and I rely solely on them. I could care less if everyone else's truck is garbage. Mine won't be. But as I said neither of them are my first choices just options that sound better than where we are now. My dads company wants me so bad they can't stand it. They only pay .90cpm plus fuel but they haul dedicated out of my hometown and never haul over 20k lbs. All I would do is run from Athens, TN to Holland, MI drop hook and head back. Pays the same to d/h back. And I can run as many or as few turns a week as my heart desires. And be home every other day for 10 hours and on the weekend for a reset. I feel really safe doing that because my dad loves driving there and is about to be an o/o for them as well. Keep in mind these are all just small safe steps until I get my next ride paid off. After that my numbers are going on the side and I'm buying a reefer. I do not like risk so I think I am taking the right small steps to keep it at a minimum and still achieving my goals.

Landstar and Schneider choice fit my personality best. I went into this for greater independence not less. The idea of choosing my own loads and taking on more responsibility fits my business plan. You have to change your thinking because you're paid a percentage of the billed amount. You have to watch your deadhead, but that is up to you. No more sitting and waiting because a dispatcher doesn't want you to deadhead more than 20 miles, even though 50 miles up the road is a 1000 mile load. I'm familiar with percentage since that is how we were paid at Curry. Cities, Bunge, U of I all paid well. Ash paid lousy, was messy and generally wasn't worth hauling. ADM was a bunch of cheapskates. Miles didn't matter nearly as much as dollars per day.

Well running my own authority would fit me best. I am just being mega careful cause once I get my Pete I am not gonna lose it. I'm gonna run hard for another year and pay it off as soon as possible. Then I will be open to do whatever I want. I ran the numbers for landstar and wasn't really impressed. With what i saw. And if it weren't for e logs I would already be at SNI. I'm wanting to get away from all the micromanagement crap for a while and be able to focus on my goals instead of whether or not I'm gonna see home again this month, or if I do this what will the company say kinda thing. Dads running over 3500mi a week right now. That will give me more than enough money to do what I am looking to do. Especially since my truck payments are only gonna be a grand a month.
