That's the truth. Here's a ridiculously long video heading north out of Toronto. No point in watching it all but anyone who thinks that hanging out in the granny lane and leaving a bunch of space ahead in slow traffic means you'll constantly get cut off and never get anywhere should note the 5 ton flatbed that passes by at 12:59 and see where it is at 18:35. Or the cube at 17:09 and again at 22:26. Going nowhere fast.

I also think of it as the situation of the gravitation, because it's about how things are situated (positioned), which is half the concept of universal gravitation, and their proximity or size gets any two or more objects involved (as a cluster of vehicles is like one large object).Lepton1 Thanks this.

So true...TksBud A. Thanks this.

Interesting post.
It’s all really simple;
The population of this country is exploding; people everywhere and always in each other’s way.
In my lifetime, the US population alone has more than doubled.
That ‘doubling’ is now expected to double yet again in just half the time. And so on.
As a result, and along with a realization of a general sense of decay in our entire democratic system, human life is becoming very cheap and common. Hence the behaviors toward one another that revolve around a growing disrespect and an utter contempt.
Most of us are all pretty much just one national catastrophe (or even just the threat of one) away from shooting each other, or running each other down with our vehicles, without hesitation.
And eagerly anticipating every moment of it.
You see it all around you everywhere, every day.Last edited: Mar 11, 2019
Bud A., Rideandrepair and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Thats great "reasoning".Lepton1 Thanks this.

Think i have witnessed that..when they all root each other in the gashole. They all are clumped together like one large object. Runn'in with the pack.

Yep, I did a local haul this morning and mid day made a beeline back to my "safe space". I figure the guy on my passenger side plumb run out of money and his truck will need an in frame, based on the oil leak that's spreading out from under his engine. The other guy is bobtail, helpfully halfway in the hole. I have no idea why he' s been here so long. He's leased to Great Wide. Maybe a long vacation in Barbados?

Gas stations are a good example. No customers for an hour, then 1 customer, suddenly 4 or 5.A lot of the actions I see boil down to a Me First mentality, also notice a lot of cut throat Drivers in high dollar vehicles. Competitive nature? Or selfish behavior? Total disregard for others. Sense of entitlement, I’m more important than You.

If it were that simple, I wouldn't have given this a second thought. It doesn't seem like the population explains the causality of how people move (only how much longer the don't get anywhere, since they willingly bunch up, even when it's absolutely unnecessary, as if they are always trying to form traffic). The causal contact is about the same, regardless. That's why there are gravitational models for the way traffic and shopping play out.
Beyond pollution, the greatest effect of the population may be an increasing number of demented people, in addition to those who are temporarily demented by phones, or other distractions, disturbances, and substances, I guess. The U.S. burden of Alzheimer’s disease related dementias is expected to double by 2060, and up to half of the world's population is infected by toxoplasmosis (which also causes dementia)... "One of the most challenging aspects of dementia care is the assessment of driving safety. Drivers with dementia are at higher risk of motor vehicle collisions, yet many drivers with mild dementia might be safely able to continue driving for several years."
Besides missing some stop signs, I think demented people follow the same pattern (because it's a demented pattern, as far as being in their worst interests, to the point that people trained to keep a distance won't). More often than not, the greater following distance I try to give a vehicle, the more erratically it drives, to slow down when nothing's ahead of it (or start to turn and then stop and block half the lane, seemingly to stay in the way somehow), as if I'm driving them crazy, because they can't get their 'gravitation fix'. Take the same driver and put them behind me, and they'll be speeding until they can tailgaite something. Maybe I should call it gravattraction. I think it's comparable to adverse weather too (or make that adverse gravity), when people drive as if they're forming a storm cloud everywhere. The cosmic forces are at play, methinks.Last edited: Mar 12, 2019
Reason for edit: I could also compare the exploding poopulation to a digestive process, but let's not go there!Bud A., USMC '74-'78 Semper Fi, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this.
