Here I sit at the Flying J in San Antonio waiting to deliver in the morning. The drive here from Laramie and then Amarillo was uneventful. It was downhill most of the way so it helped with the miles per gallon.
I am hoping that once I deliver in the morning I will be sent to Waco for a Coca Cola load going back into Florida.
One thing I did forget to mention is that the other night I got to sit down and enjoy a dinner with TLeaHeart from the Stevens board. It is always nice to visit with friends out on the road.

I've really enjoyed reading this thread. I run the SE a lot and always see Heyl trucks. I'd love to get into a midwest > southeast thing with them. Thinking of making the call.

I talked to hyle today about going on with them that was a joke they said they dident hire out of my area which is north florida you have to go past my home to get to their terminal just dident make any sense to me lol.

Fallin, I think it may have something to do with the company wanting their equipment on the yard while on off time. If I remember correctly, I think I was told you had to live within a 90 minute radius of the terminal. I could be wrong. -
I made my delivery in San Antonio with no problems. Later that afternoon, much to my surprise, I was given a load picking up in McAllen, TX gong to just south of Atlanta. I thought for sure I would be headed to Waco.
My time in McAllen was significantly delayed because the product I was supposed to be transporting had not even made it to the warehouse. My appointment time was 1300. I checked in and was told to come back at 1600. I check back in and then told to check back in at 2000. Finally, at 2200 they told me they were ready to load me. At 0130 I was finally loaded and ready to go with only 19k in the box. I could have left right then, however, the fog was thick so I waited until later in the morning. I should get a minimum of 8 hours of detention pay out this.
The combination of no product and fog was going to make me late for my delivery the following day. I immediately sent in the ETA change message after sending in the loaded message. I guess the warehouse I was delivering to was not open on the weekends because I was told I was going to have to wait until Monday morning to unload. That was unwelcome news to say the least.
I still continued to as close to the receiver as I could get (the Flying J in Jackson, GA) and figured I would be spending the weekend trapped on the truck. When I went to sleep I did not set the alarm figuring I could sleep in. I was awakened by the QC going off asking me if I would be willing to help with a repower. I asked where it was going and when it delivered. Orlando, Fl tomorrow morning was the reply. Of course I said yes. Instead of a boring weekend on the truck I will be home tomorrow. The Challenger Thanks this. -
Hey Barracuda, What's the most physical labor you've had to do since getting on w/ Heyl ? If minimal, have you heard of any situation that required a lot?
Thanx
