They have been keeping me very busy. Total dispatched miles for 8 days is just over 3400. From Tyler, Texas I was dispatched to Dallas for a load going to Fort Wayne, IN. The shipper in Dallas took forever to load me. At least I was able to get some detention pay out of it. Since The shipper took their sweet time loading me I had to run 600 miles today to make my load on time. I will have just over 140 miles to run in the morning to make a noon delivery time.
My truck has been running great. I have been averaging over 7 miles per gallon running at 63 miles per hour.

Could you give more info on Heyl since I will be starting with them Monday from Calgary terminal and was told its onle 1 day orientation in Akron and few hrs in Calgary how are the dispatchers is there forced dispatch also I was told I can pick any truck ranging from 2007 to 2010 out Volvo or FLD. Any info will help,
Thanks -
Orientation is two days. The first day is spent doing paperwork and CSA 2010 requirements. The morning of the 2nd day you deal with hours of service, logbooks, and learning the qualcomm. Once that is finished you are assigned your truck and you go inspect it, have any issues fixed, and load your gear. After that it is a 34 hour reset and you are on your way.
As far as having your choice of trucks, I was not given a choice. I was assigned a 2008 freightliner cascadia. The other person in orientation with me was given a volvo.
Your fuel bonus is will depend on which truck you are assigned. -
Since my last post I was given a load that took me home. I ended up spending 5 days at home because of the holiday weekend. Tuesday I loaded in Leesburg, FL and delivered this morning in Hopkins, MN. Not a bad run to start the week. Now I have a short run (196 paid miles) to IA that will deliver today.

Made my short run into IA and now I am sitting at a Tyson plant in Storm Lake, IA waiting on a load delivering to Oakland, CA. My deadline departure was this morning at 0930. Gotta love Tyson and their lightning speed of getting a load out on time.
Once I deliver this load I will have over 3600 dispatched miles in 8 days. Heyl has really been keeping me moving. -
I finally started rolling at 0700 Sunday morning. Just over three days and 1800 miles later I am sitting here in Oakland, CA waiting to unload. When I arrived at the receiver I only had 45 minutes left on my 70 hour clock. Thankfully I will be getting back 10 plus hours tomorrow.
The State of California was nice enough to stop me at the port of entry and inspect my cargo. No problems there. The inspector looked inside the trailer and resealed it.
Once I am unloaded and done with my 10 hour break it will be off to Arvin for another load. -
After unloading in Oakland I headed for the TA in Wheeler Ridge to swap trailers with another driver. The load I picked up was taking me back to Florida. With the available hours I had I would not have been able to make the delivery on time. I had to take a 34 hour reset before rolling. It made the load tight, but I was able to make the delivery.
For the two weeks I was out I had just over 6400 dispatched miles. I can't complain about that.
I took a few days off and now I am back on the road headed for a delivery tomorrow night in Pennsylvania. The Challenger Thanks this. -
I made the delivery in Pottsville, PA. As soon as I was empty I was given a load picking up down the road in Mechanicsburg and delivering on Tuesday in Apopka, FL. When I first looked over the assignment I thought there was way too much time on it for just 1000 miles. The next message over the qualcom explained it. There was a stop in North Carolina on Monday.
I took my 10 hour break and headed to Mechanicsburg. The trailer was already loaded so I was in and out of the shipper in no time. Fueled up in Greenville, VA and headed toward Hickory, NC.
Now I am sitting waiting to unload at 0600 Monday before continuing to Florida. By the time I am unloaded I will have a 34 hour reset. -
I like your posts Barracuda. I enjoy reading about other drivers travels. Keep them coming if you can.
Barracuda905 Thanks this.
