Howdy! After reading probably every post about every company on TTR, I set my sights on three companies, Heyl being at the top of the list. I put in almost a year at a lousy job running lousy equipment for lousy pay and finally it has paid off. Heyl called me today & said my application has been approved. I'm going to take my drug test on Monday and will hopefully be headed to Zephyrhills within the next two weeks.

I have a few questions for ya if you don't mind.

How long have you been with Heyl?

Do they still let you plan your own route (within reason, obviously)?

    Miles still good?

I've heard conflicting stories as to inverters, some say all trucks have them, some say you have to buy your own & pay Heyl to install it, what's the real story?

I'm super stoked to join the Heyl team, I hear they treat their drivers like human beings & everything! This will be my first GOOD truck driving gig.

Talked with a Heyl driver in Missouri today and things still sound pretty good there. I am gonna call 'em tomorrow and see if the 8 clean months I've had over here at Knight will satisfy their internal safety standards.

It should, I only have a little over 10 months total experience. Thanks for the update, I continue to hear nothing but good about Heyl...with the exception of a few comments that I'm pretty sure came from window-lickers. Good luck when you call them (Andrea is super nice by the way), let us know how it goes.

No-go for me still at Heyl. Too large of a gap in employment to meet their internal standards. Guess I shouldn't have spent so much time working on my golf game. Oh well........

Sorry to hear that, did they give you an idea of how much longevity you need to be considered?

OK, as for routing there is has never been a set route however we do now have a fuel routing in place that being said if u r not going that way u can call ur dispatcher and get a new fuel stop. The older cascadias and volvos came with a apu that had a inverter the new trucks do not come with apu's but they do have an inverter 1500 or 1800 not sure that being said if u need more power u can buy one and the shop guys will install it for you. Miles are still good just go where they ask u and you should be ok, im on elogs and still average about 2400 a week no company is perfect but you could do alot worse than these guys welcome aboard ....note unless they changed it if u still have your med card and long form u should just need a pee test anymore questions feel free to ask

Awesome, thanks for the info. I do have a med card & long form, I've already taken my whiz quiz and I'm off to Zephyrhills on December 3rd. I'm not picky about where they send me & I love driving so I should do well if the miles are there.

They say most of their drivers attain the quarterly 28,000 mile, safety and fuel bonuses. Are they pretty good about paying out on the bonuses?

Can't wait to head to Florida next week & get away from this dag-gum cold weather. Wish me luck.

Excellent, I was kinda hoping that 2400 was a conservative average. I am confident that I have made the right choice.

Yeah, I kinda figured they'd have me back up north sooner than later, but I'll take what I can get. I'll be splitting my home time between Fort Wayne and Zephyrhills, my dad lives in Sanford and my brother in Lakeland. I plan on relocating my family to the Tampa area within the next six months so Heyl just works in every way.

Thanks for all your input, you have been very helpful, if you're in Zephyrhills next week I'll buy ya lunch if we cross paths.
