You can't train common sense. It's crazy what you see out on the roads these days. Truckers and 4 wheelers.

 

I've said it before. Some people get it, others don't. No amount of training will make them "get it" either.

 

At one time most truckers came from one of 2 backgrounds. Either from trucking families or farm families. Both grew up around equipment. Operating equipment was almost breed into us. We have a different mind set..

I saw It. It was like a re-enactment of the crash there two weeks ago. A few seconds sooner, he would’ve T-boned the axles of a flatbed truck turning left there.

It’s sickening knowing we’re sharing the roads with these guys.

 

The melt program is a joke in Ontario. 100 hours doesn't reach you jack #### about truck driving, but apparently the ministry thinks so. My cousin from India did the melt course in 4 weeks just going on the weekends. They just teach the bare minimum to pass the test like how it was before MELT. As long as we have majority east Indians in the trucking industry these things will never change.

When I was in college I used to ask all those Indian international students what their plans for the future is and they were always giving the same response: "Get our truck license and drive". The worst part is the way they drive here they think is normal because it is normal in India.

 

But the Indians are obedient and work for chump change, and that in the eyes of corporations makes them better then the rest of us. Yah well sometimes they smash and kill a bus load of kids, whatever right? The corporations increased their bottom line through cheap unskilled labor in which turn satisfied the shareholders, yey! It's a net win for the investor class. And that's the only class of folk that matters nowadays. All the laws and regulations are stacked and written in their favor. Labor has been getting ### ####ed for at least the last 40 years and nothing's being done, so; see you at the next funeral.

 

Shippers don’t seem to mind about the situation either. One would think with their load being destroyed so often, it’d be a dealbreaker for them, but the carrier’s insurance covers the loss and they get to sell another load. They’re out nothing and their sales went up.
