Seriously? ... You have a whole two years experience and you want it all. You want to work for someone else but make your own rules, lol. I can tell you one thing for sure, stay away from reefers, you won't like the appointment times
Sounds like you need to buy your own truck, book your own freight and then you can do as you please.
Or you can find a decent company with more good than bad and deal with it.
Good luck with your search, your going to be there a while![]()
The ideal company... does it exist?

Have you thought about going with an LTL company working a line haul?
The equipment, miles, and pay are good. The rest of your wants are covered because your home every day, or 2 days max.
If you don't want to do that it's still not a bad short term option because you get a feel for the good smaller outfits in your area. -
As for appointment times, there is a big difference between wanting a week to get 1400 miles and wanting to be granted at least 2 days instead of 14 hours for the same load... that's why I said "reasonable appointment times".
I think it's perfectly fair to expect a trucking company to let you run within your hours of service, it is in that little green book after all.
The rest is just personal preference. Some companies will not allow you to run inverters or ham radio in their trucks. Not my place to make the rules, but that doesn't mean I have to drive for them. Just because I'm looking for a company that has different rules doesn't mean "I want it all".

There is one LTL/OTR company here locally will run you more than illegal. Matter of fact, there is one position that runs from Flint, MI to Kansas City and back twice in three and a half days...
Thanks for the input though -

Bottom line though, you have to take the bad with the good. There arent any perfect driving jobs, it's trucking. Find a company that you can live with and make the best of it. -
I appreciate it. -
That's true!
Good luck with your search.KD8FQB Thanks this. -
They're out there the problem is you need to be home enough to find one. If your always 1000 miles form home it's hard to find a good local outfit.
To be honest many of the smaller outfits will run you slightly outlaw, but not dangerous.
Finding a good place takes a lot of effort, your not going to find what you want by putting in apps with the 300+ truck companies. Or at least your not going to find that in my neck of the woods. -
Good luck with your search. You just have to find a company where the good outweighs the bad. None are perfect, but that does not mean there are not good ones out there.
It may take awhile, but you will fit one that will fit most of your needs. Don't give up driver.
