i live in NY state and the idiots continue to increase the minimum wage. by 2021 minimum wage will be $15 per hour. how is this industry going to compete when that happens. my weekly wage is around $1,000 per week. at 55-60 hours per week. i drive class A tanker locally. service workers whined and complained they want $15 per hour for unskilled labor. apparently they are going to get it over the next few years. im strongly against these increases and i fear it will only drive the final nail in the coffin for those people at the middle income level. as minimum wage increases, the cost of living and daily expenses will start to go into inflation mode, and i end up with an effective pay cut.

so what is going to happen?
retain drivers already in the industry by giving us honest raise
the industry starts to fall apart as drivers decide that driving truck is no longer worth it

    what do guys think

They raised min wage in Seattle already. It caused a bunch of restaurants to go under.

Welp, Your averaging a tad more than $15 an hour on the bright side I guess.

Look at all the newbs grossing $400-500 per week right now @ 60-70 hours. driving a truck

You gotta yell at companies like England-Swift-US expess-Stevens and dozens more fore getting away with such pizz poor wages for the hours the driver puts in.

The sad joke is on all the folks who think an entry-level $15/hour is now waiting for them because of legislation . Those jobs just disappear. Business just closes its doors. Bye

Cost of goods is going to go up, small businesses will tank and the lower classes will think they are happy, but then realize when they are paying $6.00/gal for gas and $17.50 for a Big Mac meal that they really didn't gain anything.

Good question- And I have a better answer.

I Blame the megas becvause THEY KNOW BETTER.....I Don't blame the Drivers because they #1,Dont know the industry yet- and #2, Many are not the brightest light bulbs either,Yet have the strength to question those wages.

I Blame the MEGAS because they Knowingly get away with it with a snarl like Grin from Ear to Ear,Watching their New Homes being Built in Coos Bay,Oregon.

At Least Pay a decent wage ($700-900 a week for beginners) So you don't look like a horses ### to the rest of us

I can understand bad week or two, but how the hell can anyone only gross $400-500 a week in this industry?
