That hasn't been MY experience! I'll typically go years without being inspected. Had an officer put those stickers on my truck & trailer and got 4 more level 1's in the next 3 months. Peeled those stupid things off and it was another 2 years before I got pulled again...it's like they had the attitude of "challenge accepted" and tried to find what the other guy had missed.

Makes you wonder if it is like the four wheelers that display the “State Police Fund” or some such sticker on their vehicles. In a former life, a long time ago, I had a badge. We always laughed at those drivers displaying such things. It was as if they thought it gave them a “get out of jail free” card. We were much more likely to write them a ticket.

I see things a bit differently. A company that cares so little as to not take the 2 minutes to replace the required reflective tape, probably isn't keeping an eye on the more important things such as brake linings.

I have zero pity for people that get tickets for reflective tape. Its not like every truck stop doesn't sell it or that only 50% of the trailer needs it. that is the perfect example of a guy that simply won't even put in the absolute minimum effort. That guy won't make it at burger king.

I highly doubt that is the norm. Those different organizations use the donation money to support the families of fallen officers. While id never expect to get out of a ticket jist cause i donated 50 bucks to the cause, if it makes the donor more likely to get a ticket, it wouldn't be long before no one donated.

I can’t speak to whether it is the “norm” or not. I only speak to the perspective shared by those I associated with in a very small corner of the earth. Many of our constituents were known to us. They used such tactics to gain them some sort of special treatment in our little corner of the world. Nonetheless, your point is well taken.

We're all entitled to our opinions. Not sure why
I'm talking about a small tear or break in the tape. It's overkill and obviously about money from where I'm sitting. To think otherwise is naive. But we're all entitled to our opinions and said opinions are subject to change at any given moment YMMV.

Step 1: Take the ticket to court,:evil3:
Step 2: Tell the judge you were in the can:pottytrain5:
Step 3: Ask the officer to provide witnesses to say you weren't:happy1:

What about the strips at the top of the trailer door that may be missing tomorrow morning when I pick up my trailer? I can only jump so high!!! Although I have persuaded the shipping clerk to lift me up on a pallet with his forklift. Ahh the joys of trucking and being borderline OCD when it comes to pre trip inspections.
