These were the off the cliff major recoveries not just tows. RMC calls those in so definately not language barrier. You would have to see the episodes yourself pretty obvious what their doing.

Maybe their logic is if their only going to get 40% lets just throw everything at it send a bill and see what sticks.

They are required to respond, as requested by the police with wreckers. They do not have the option to just take a pickup truck.

As for pumping out fuel, can't speak for the exact trucks they did it to on the show, it is common to remove fuel from damaged tanks and them burning it in their wrecker is much cheaper than paying to dispose of it as contaminated waste. Could also be showing fuel being pumped out of trucks that they got stuck with because the deadbeat didn't pay the bill, or salvage they bought for dismantling. Too much to speculate on.

Lastly, it is a dramatization, most real towers don't care for the show other than as entertainment. It is a better representation of the towing industry than say Operation Repo or Parking Wars, but it is still staged for tv and designed to get people reacting.

    You are missing the point.
Many businesses have to have on hand specially equipment that does get used every day but is a necessity to run the business.
Some how this equipment needs to be paid for
So it is on hand when needed.
In my transmission shop I have specialty tools ranging from hand tool all the way to very expensive electronic tools.
Do I use them all every day?
    Absolutely not.
But I couldn’t have a transmission shop with out them.
The point is there are many businesses who are required to have expensive specialized equipment to operate that is not used every day.
Here is a few others who have such equipment.
    Crane companies
    Construction companies
    Hospitals
    Power companies
    Mechanical shops
    Fire districts
    And many many others.

And how many of them cost 700k?, it's a poor business man that spends that much money on a piece of equipment with no roi.

Crane companies, hospitals, construction companies , and fire districts to name a few.
All of these entities have equipment that is not used full time with price tags in excess of 1,000,000.00 a piece.
I guess if people are not exposed to business operations they have no idea what equipment cost or what the cost of doing businesses actually is.

What about it? Are you going to buy it and not be able to get an roi?, or are you going to buy it and depend on a 3rd party to set your rates an supply work for it? if not I don't see why you posted it.
