So I should take my wheels off with a 3/4" drive ratchet and snipe since I don't really need a 1" drive impact? Sometimes its nice to have stuff to make a job easier.

I get it, but don't ##### that the 1" cost a lot of money and you don't use much.

It is not complaining that it costs a lot of money, it is justification for the $750-$800 per hour rate with a 4 hour minimum.

It is not need vs. want, again to provide a service it is required equipment. By your logic since most truckers didn't want an ELD they should shut down. The ELD is a perfect example of a mandated piece of equipment that had a low tech solution until regulators got involved. So by your logic I should never hear anyone complain about the cost or required use of an ELD since they chose to be interstate carriers or drivers.

3/4" ratchet is for when you don't have a 1" impact. I did many spring bodies and wheels with 3/4" ratchet only because no air available. A slow and tedious procedure.
I wonder if the new Milwaukee 1/2" cordless would do the job. Model 2767 1400lbs torque.

Did someone kill someone close to you
    With rotator.
Where does this unyielding hatred of a specific
    Tow truck come from.
    You sound crazy.

Do you harass the driver with the 250,000
    Dollar exstended sleeper truck also.
He doesn't get a penny more for the load
Than the 15,000 junkers that litter the highways.

    Nothereoften and Hulld Thank this.

N o, I was one of those guys with a big sleeper, just because you want a bigger more expense truck does not justify a higher rate, if you have specialized equipment you better have work for it, you can't say I only use it 3 times a month so the rate is 2000.00 dollars an hour and a four hour mini.

    Western flyer Thanks this.

There is nothing you can't do with a rotator that can't be done with a regular wrecker, it may take longer and won't be as pretty looking but it can be done. Also Quiring doesn't have a rotator, so it's not required.

Dude, what part of it is REQUIRED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTRACT in some parts of the US and Canada can't you wrap your head around. It is really that simple. Either you have the equipment they specify or you do not get the spot on rotation. Same as being required to have a CDL, medical card or ELD. In some areas we can not practice our trade without specific tools, and if I have been the law enforcement tower in my county for the last twenty years I am buying what I need to keep my spot on the rotation and the customer is paying for it.

Don't like minimum use fees, then stop electing idiots that want to tell any of us how to do our jobs.

Are they needed, no, but neither is power steering, air conditioning or any of the dozens of other things that make our jobs safer and easier. Maybe we should take tasers away from cops, a bullet is cheaper and stops a suspect just as efficiently.

The whole reason law enforcement mandates rotators in some areas is quick clearance. Yes, I can do the job with the truck in my avatar but with modern hydraulic wreckers it will be a 2 or 3 hour job instead of an all day project.

This opens the road quicker, reduces risk of secondary crashes and keeps everyone's inconvenience to a minimum. Also saves me worker comp and injury claims and allows me to take better care of the salvage, which protects both the trucking company as well as insurance interests.
