Besides, the why doesn't matter. If you don't want to tarp something, then don't agree to haul the load.
Maybe that's why some of us have no trouble making money in this business, and specifically this current down economy. While others are struggling. Some of us have a reputation that we always do what we agreed upon.stwik, Highway Sailor, Terry270 and 2 others Thank this. -

Plus add time to the job all unnecessary On this little run I can leave home and be back in about 3.5-4.5 hours
and have 400 dollars less factoring fee. -
Many that know me know that I carry one small tarp, that I use once or twice a year.
But about half of my loads require tarps, the loads are big but I don't mind, see you guys are doing it all wrong. The shipper provides the throw away tarps, wood strips, nails and labor. When I arrive my load is tarped and ready to go, I just write a check to the shipper and am ready to go. When I unload the receiver gets the tarp and I don't get dirty. Why did I waste money on a sink? -
Many years ago,we used to haul titanium barstock, from Los Angeles to the helicopter plant in Connecticut.Good freight, but the shipper insisted tarps. The receiver always laughed as we untarped, and he stored the bars on outside racks.Sometimes you just have to make people happy,if they're paying a good rate.At the old Beth Steel plant in Baltimore, everything that left the plant had to be tarped.Even old iron that was dug out of the mud in outside storage. Also I believe the old Spector Motor Freight guys had to tarp everything that went on the wagon, company policy. Most of there O/O ops had covered wagons and did it anyway.

For you that don't like to tarp how would you like to do this job. I took the pict in the port of Albany several years ago. That is a 737 completely shrink wrapped.
Bet they got more than $50.Last edited: Apr 16, 2016
stwik, tsavory, Getsinyourblood and 6 others Thank this. -
I wonder what the point of shrink wrapping a 737 is- it's not likely that it was going to be hauled down the highway.

Edit:
That was the Southwest plane that had a hard, nose-first landing and gear failure: http://m.timesunion.com/default/article/Wrapped-and-ready-for-review-4969070.php
