The merger of Pilot and Flying J travel plaza is not a blessing to many truck drivers

I was already pretty ticked about the Denny's thing, but eliminating the driver's lounge completely? Flying J has officially become another "fuel up and get lost" place. Back to TA and Petro for me, and you can bet the mom and pops will be getting a LOT more of my business whenever I can find one.

Ugh. Flying J sounds like it's going to become another Loves. All that is left is the elimination of the laundry facilities.

every single J i stop at, i ask about the Drivers Lounge, they are revamping them and adding Flat Screens to the ones that dont have them. so i dont think they are getting rid of the Lounge

For all the complaining about the J being bought out by Pilot, it's still just a truck stop, regardless if they are catering to cars or not. You can still get fuel, shower and a bite to eat and and a place to park to overnight.

In fact, I contacted the "new sheriff in town" at corporate headquarters today and asked that very same question ... how soon will it be before the laundry machines and dryers are removed from Flying J's after the merger with Pilot.

I do not believe that you will see the lounges close. I have asked about this at several J's and they plan to remain the same. Pilot did not buy them nor did the J buy Pilot. It was a merger. They will remain as 2 separate corporations.

The problem is that most people just fly off with rumors and half truths.

I heard Jay Call was cryogenically frozen and they're gonna thaw him out and bring him on board as the new CEO.

"Many RV'ers are boycotting the Flying J in protest of the changes in service."

Maybe some good will come out of all this after all!
