Now a days you don't have to have anything on the door except the USDOT # of whoever you are, or are leased to.
You can put anything else you want on there (you name, initials, logo etc) as long as the DOT # matches whats on the authority you run under.

If you run your own authority that says John Smith Trucking, you can use a logo that says JST like I said,,,as long as the DOT # matches what it says on your authority.

    It's NOT against the regs!

Never heard of anyone being hassled over a logo,,,as long as the paperwork and #'s match.
What you put on the side of that truck doesn't matter other than the federal/state numbers.

    EZX1100 Thanks this.

    thank you
another vote with the "it doesnt matter"

but i think the regs actually say the name on the authority

John Wiggins Jr is the name that is supposed to be on the truck, and no variation

but real world i think is much different

unless you run into barney fife

Look at it this way...any time an officer wants to know about you,,,he types into his computer the USDOT #, KYU#, Vin#, etc. This tells him everything he wants to know. Having a picture of Ernie & Bert and saying leased to Sesame-Street means nothing to him.

well, if the DOT number is registered to Ernie and Bert and the logo says Prime Inc, or CR England, it will raise an ire

but if the DOT number says Ernie and Bert and the Logo says E&B Trucking, thats the point i want to have clarified

    OK,,,again.
What it says or doesn't say (Ernie & Bert for example) on the side of the truck doesn't mean squat!

What does matter is,,, does the DOT # match whats on the authority? (paper in your permit book)

Paint whatever you want to for a logo. If you had CRST logo,,,then the officer is gonna be confused when the #'s come back as something else, but as long as the #'s match the paperwork, the logo won't matter.

My "authority" says "R&B Trucking" and has my MC&DOT #'s.

If I put on my dors "Robin & Betty's Trucking" there's no problem.

The #'s & paperwork are all that matters...they have to match.

BTW,,,I don't run under my own authority anymore. I'm lease to Sammons, have their logo on the doors, but still have my R&B Trucking logo as well.
