Don't forget Western Star:biggrin_25523: them and Kenworth are the true performers in the out back at 300,000lbs plus, Mack are fading like all the others.

These 630 are only rated to some 90 odd ton so I assume they are not targeting the market in OZ that is taken up by the Kenworths and Macks that are 150 Odd Ton.

The Cat truck CT630 as being sold in Australia is for all intent purposes a rebadged Prostar. The basic deal seems to be Cat will use its dealers outside the USA and India to sell Navistars products, in return Navistar will help Cat develope an entirely new vocational truck for the US market, so you guys will get a different (and hopefully better) Cat truck than us.
The first batch of Cat trucks for Aus (approx 500) will be sold with Cat C15/C13 Acerts, as they will be built before 01/01/2011 they can be sold as 2010 plated trucks up till 01/01/2012 (I think) after that they we be powered by an engine "undetermined" but most likely a Maxfore in 13 or 15 liter.

It will be the maxxforce but by then it should be the newly designed one that is engineered by both Cat and IH.

That's what happens when you get bought by a parasite like Volvo. Like I said before "built like a Mack truck" will soon be followed by laughter.

Hope Western Star doesn't fall in the same hole. Your not going to go to your local Volvo dealer and order a truck with planetary rears, twin drive steer axles, quad frame rails and a railroad hitch front and back.:biggrin_2559:

We were told that initially they will only have basic highway trucks and will develope the range over several years. Trucks rated over 90 tonnes make up only 3% of the new truck market so they wont target this market initally.

Star cars done have, when they moved the plant down to Mexico, you can say what you want about Mack but everyone of them are built in the USA

Well where it's made means less to me than how it's made. Very few trucks can be ordered custom anymore. They've all become cookie cutter junk. Let's see a "severe service" cascadia!:biggrin_2559:

    C16KIWI Thanks this.
