It's all good if you can't laugh out here you shouldn't be out here. The stock yesterday was coming back up Edmond. How's training Edmund? The yard is no place to be right now I hear.

Has the truck situation changed. Looking to apply soon but really don't want to team. FFE sounds like the best fit for me overall but if I can't run solo after training I think I will go somewhere else. Really looking for input from someone that has very recently finished thier phase 2 training, but any and all feedback is more than welcome.

WOO-HOO! It am gud to hab dem frenz in duh hi puh-laces! My biggest concern about the whole FFE training thing was going through trainer roulette after the academy. At least this way I get a known commodity who happens to like my culilnary speciality...ROADKILL!!

You know, when a moose gets highway killed up here a volunteer goes to the carcass and butchers it as long as it's still fresh. Seriously, there is a roadkill list - people waiting for some fresh roadkill. That's how highly prized moose meat is in Alaska and, man, I sure do love me some moose. After eating moose beef tastes as bland as tofu. And that's coming from a guy who was never too big on game meat. Moose, the other white meat. There's another little gem of trivia from the great white north for ya'!

OK, take this for what it's worth. I'm so new that I am in the space between accepting an offer of employment with FFE and actually getting into the cab of a truck. But I have done a lot of research before settling on FFE.

With the exception of your first six weeks, which is part of the training course, team driving is strictly voluntary. You first six weeks otr you will be assigned to a finish trainer's truck - no exceptions. FFE is truly serious about safety so even guys with otr experience must go through the training so FFE can unprogram any bad/unsafe habits a driver may have picked up over the years. They encourage team driving because teams do the really long hauls and there never seem to be enough teams. But they do not require anyone to do it under duress. Most teams tend to be drivers who are "significant others". For instance, Playmaker, the guy who started this thread teams with his gf sometimes as she's a trucker too. And my wife is thinking about getting her cdl and joining me on the road for part of the year. Hope that helps.

Culinary school grad, huh? Oh, it's on now boy! We'll have our very own reality tv based competition. We'll call it "Top Chef Truckers". Yeah, that's the ticket! Or we can do a food network show about how to cook on the road. We do recipes like "Manifold Manicotti" where you cook by taping the entre' to the engine exhaust manifold. Or how about "Engine Cowl Seared Steak au Poivre"... but that technique only works in the desert...or Texas in July.

I'm old school. I did an apprenticeship with the ACA. I don't miss it for one minute. The profession is stressful, thankless, greasy, hot, smelly, dirty, long hours, and chefs tend to die young. Hold on a tick. It just dawned on me that this is the way a lot of disgruntled truckers describe trucking! What are we getting ourselves into?!

And speaking of "disgruntled", have you ever heard anyone say that they were feeling "gruntled"? How can someone be "disgruntled" without first being "gruntled"? It's these deep questions about the universe that keep me awake at night.
