So I drove through the night to make a on time arrival, thanks SPAT for the conversation it helped me stay awake. So I get here to Wal-Mart, now take it my student has been asleep since 2200z. I asked him at 0600 to wake up and watch how we check in at this WAL MART. Needlles to say he didn't want to get up. With that being said, the students or future students going to the Academy, don't just be a rider in your trainer truck be willing to learn. Trust me and you can asked SPAT and TIGGER the more you know before you solo the more chances of you being successful here.

haha he didnt want to get up? wow he was prolley do well before he choose to go start a "new" industry.which rings up a point what is the trainers role in getting a student on thier own? how involved are you guys,to the point of sending students out for more OTR or even home? i know from my reading on here on pm with several drivers that the post trainer-student relationship can be hugh for a new guys success.

In his defence... remember how tired you were the first few weeks? You have to build up to the trucker lifestyle.

Studing and taking online practice tests will not hurt at all. The more u know ahead if time the better off u will be. It will definitly allow u to sleep those first few nights of the acadamy

My goal as a trainer is to build on the foundation of what the Academy taught them, but bring it to the real world of this industry. My student will be a product from me. So I want to put the best product in front of the company as I can. I am not one of those trainers that just sets them behind the wheel and points them in the right direction. I teach them things on like how to save money out here and little differences from each shipper and reciever. Also teach them thier just not a driver they are a customer service rep. problem solver, and how to live out here without going in sane. I want to put out a professional safe driver. If I can do that I did my job.

And SPAT once again thank for the convo. last night it helped. As for my student he was in the sleeper for more than 7 hours plus he was awake when I asked him did he want to see how this is done.

    harleysmith64 Thanks this.

Hello drivers and future drivers. I have to say I have been looking for a company to call home for a while now and this company is going to be that place. I want to thank each of you for your contributions to this forum as it has answered many of my questions. Playmaker you sir are a scholar and a gentleman, if not for you FFE may not have seen the up turn in drivers or the quality of drivers that they are getting now. I am looking forward to joining the ranks of the company in February of the coming year as I have to move to Iowa from Illinois before I can make my bid for this company.
Spat sir you have had me laughing so hard over the last few hours that my sides hurt. Thank you things have been tough for a few months and have not had much to laugh about. It is nice to see people that are enjoying life and all of it wonderful and not so wonderful surprises.
RedNeckTigger you sir are one lucky man in my book. That Volvo is a sweet truck and will serve you well. The VN780 and KW T700 are my two all time favorite trucks. I really like the Cascadia and the Pete 387 as well. I hope that they keep adding the Volvo's to the fleet.
Now for a couple of questions: One does FFE have a lease or O/O program? Two is there a pet policy? I think that having a dog as a companion would help with the boredom and would make being in certain areas much safer.
Again guys thanks for letting us see in to your world and be safe out there especially in the South West and Cali the Santa Annis are blowing with gusts over 100 mph. Which will lay a loaded or empty trailer on it side.:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25525::biggrin_255:
