You sure about the 3rd zippor? They should start on the 2nd. Mondays are when the non-CDL trainees show, and Wednesdays are when the CDL trainees get there. Once everyone is there, the Physicals and DT are done, and it takes all day. The truck stuff starts Thursday, and you are in the yard until Sunday. Then Mon thrugh Fri is road training, Sat back in the yard.

    So in your case
    FFEDA Ft. Worth
    Mon 2nd thru Wed 4th - Classroom
    Thurs 5th thru Sun 8th - Yard
Mon 9th thru Fri 13th - Road Friday is also the Road Test.
    Sat 14th and Sun 15th - Yard
Mon 16th and Tues 17th - Testing at DPS

If you get the pass at DPS
Wed 18th thru Fri 20th - Orientation at MCM Le Grand Hotel Lancaster
From end of Orientation on Friday it may take up to 5 days to get a trainer, and they may even send you on a Greydog to meet them.

From the day you get on your trainers truck, that is the first day you get paid. Not before, no matter what ANYONE says.
Then it is 6 weeks out. $455 a week Gross. Every Sun and Wed $75 is put on you Comdata Card. It is cumulative until each Sun. Then it resets. If you don't use it it appears in your check. It is an advance, and I suggest you be careful using it at first.

As I had to come home in the 3rd week, the following is from a fellow class member that completed the full deal.

After 6 weeks they head your trainer to the Lancaster yard. It make take up to a week to get back, pay is pro-rated if you get in in the middle of the pay period. Toy take a road test, fill out a few forms and they hand you the keys to a 2011 or 2012 Cascadia or Prostar. Sometimes you have the choice, but the trucks are new or nearly new. Highest mileage he saw was 87,000 on a Prostar. There is a small chance a 2010 Century might get snuck in there, but they are rare.

You get the keys and a load home for 6 days off.

After this, the most consecutive days you can take off is 5. So staying out longer than 5 weeks at a time is useless.

    Pay Scale
    0-6 months .29
    6-12 months .30
    12-18 months .31
    18-24 months .32

From there I cant tell you, but the pay ceiling is .43 as far as I know.

First load out of yard was a short but fun, got to run with SPAT to Plainview TX. We have the same destination on load also we are going to run to Georgia together. I will stop in Birmingham AL to pick up student he went home for the holidays. Looks like GEARUP is going to get on truck Saturday looking forward to training him.

Alright guys and Gals get ready for this one. The new hours of service rules are coming in Feburary 2012. I have to say why fix something if it wasn't broke. They messed up the 34 Hr. restart. It's very confusing doesn't help the driver at all. Here is the site for y'all to look at http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/hos-final/HOS-Final-Rule.pdf

Thanks bjnobear. My recruiter told me Tuesday. I'm going to call him again today to verify. I'm wondering why he told me differently. But he did definitely tell me to drive out on Monday so I would be there for class Tuesday. Hmmm

Hi everyone! New here. After looking around and reading the forums I just recently put in an application at FFE and Prime.. Crossing my fingers that things work out with FFE as that seems like the best training program fit for me. I have no experience with CDL driving at all. Coming from a different field. Looking forward to making a change. Plan on being a company driver for at least a year after I'm on my own before I even think about going lease.

Welcome Stanky! I would not even think of a lease for a few years. most company leases have proven to be a scam. I think playmaker will chime in on this one, he has been there.

WELCOME!!!!! I wouldn't even think about a lease program until you knew every thing about this industry. With that being said I learn something new each day out here so you will never no everything you need to know in a year. Running your own truck is not as easy as they make it out to be. You have to think about each state fuel tax, don't want to fill up all the time. Then you have to pay for the maintenance on truck and you won't get a brand new truck on a lease, so your getting someone elses problems. And it's just a lot of stress on you because the payments don't stop when you go on time off so the truck has to keep moving. Stay company I make and bring home enough by being a trainer to live comfortably. Your not going to become rich in this industry but you will make a living and it's a blast.

Lease bad. Sorry to early to speak in normal sentances. On a side note, made it home and slept in a real bed.
