Thanks for the info Playmaker. Do they have APU's if not how is the idling policy? What do you start out per mile? How does the per diem work? Everything sounds pretty good. Great to hear people talk positively about something. Are they all Freightliners? Thanks again!!!

We have freightliners just now getting New CASCADIAS, also we have the internationals PRO STARS. In freightliners we have OPTI IDLE, it takes getting used to when the truck starts and stops on it's own but it works. They start you at .29 CPM with raise at 6 months to .30 CPM. If you go to the academy once you get with trainer it's 455 a week. They do not deduct anything out of check for training, all you have to do is commit to one year. Per diem works like this for every day your out it's 52.00 nontaxable. Now you have option by not taking it until the end of year or taking it every week, this is done by check calls.

I will say this. I HATE admitting when Spat is right, but he did bring up a point I over-looked. I too, got a little perturbed when things didn't seem to be going smoothly as I expected after our graduation. During our orientation we seemed to be doing classes we had already completed in our time at FFE Boot-Camp:Tank: We suspected that since the academy is still new, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. I admit, they were overwhelmed with the success of our class. I believe around 95% graduated. There are doom and gloomers everywhere. Just remember that it is a new day for trucking, like it or not, we have to conform until a balance is met. I miss the glory days, but, thats just nostalgia. I was an outlaw bull wagon driver at one time, driving with my hair on fire. But, the times they are a'changing.:Transportation cost. And when the CSA 2010 axe falls, we "new era" drivers are prime positioned. Hate to see things change sometimes, but..such is the way of all the earth.:Earth: Be safe out there, and enjoy the views!:rr:

Playmaker, You have posted several times that during training nothing is deducted from you pay ($455.00 a week). Do you mean they take nothing out for the cost of school and training? Or are you saying that nothing is deducted from your training pay including no deductions such as income tax or other normal federal or state deductions? Thanks.

    Hey Steelgal! congrats!

Um...Playmaker, the slap was not a good idea. Also, the catwalk is a very uncomfortable place to ride.

    Greetings from Lithonia!!

When everyone else was telling me that they rejected my applications because they found more suitable, acceptable" applicants...FFE gave me the chance I needed. I'm not going to beat a drum, but I drove 15 years ######! Never had an accident (knock on wood), only 1 overweight ticket, and a parking ticket. And I am un-acceptable? Well, now they can all kiss my butt. If any thing I'll stay here out of spite..ha ha.
For those who are doing research through this thread, The academy is intense. The work is hard. But, keep your nose clean, do the work, and one day you will be sitting at the wheel of a 80,000# vital tool supplying the needs of this country. Responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars of valuable commodities, and equipment. A trained professional. People forget this, thus is the doom of man.
You will be contributing to life, not leeching. I love this job. I am so glad to be back. "As a sailor longs for the smell of the sea, thereas the road calls to me."(trey clarke 2011)
Now is the time to join this industry. Now is prime. If we keep our records clean and drive like professionals, in 2 years...we could all demand no less than what we desire. We will be the ones pursued and coveted. Can't wait.
Hey,Playmaker and Spat, lets start a campaign to get trucks turned up to 68 mph under the premise that 63 mph is a road hazard, because doesn't our training state several times about "flow of traffic" huh? Whaddya Think?! :Route ID::Trailer::Trailer::Trailer:

Well let's look at both sides. Now 63 yes it's saves fuel, but we are not in the flow of traffic. Also I think at 63 you are more fatigued versus 65 or 68. I try to do at least 580 miles a day. At 63 I fell like I have done 586. I drove before in a truck that did 70, I was less fatigued doing 600 than I am now. Now from the other side I can see the company stand point of fuel savings. But I think fatigued drivers is alittle moe important for the safety point. This is just my opinion.
