They are ok, I have had no major issues. There are some days that really suck but for the most part its good. Its a lifestyle first and job second. If your not prepared to be gone almost all the time then you will hate it. If you like adventure and like being alone the job is awesome.
Its what you make of it.

i have been reading this forum for a while now and finally decided to fill out an app for FFE after seeing all the positive about them. i do have one question, need to make at least 500-600 bring home once going solo, is that possible. Any comments would be helpful.

 

while 500-600 is totally possable there is not a single company that can garrentee that without it being a lie. that is the nature of this buisness. in order to get that amount every week u would have to never break down and never have a problem load. while breaking down don't always happen u will be dealing with a group of people that just don't give a squat about drivers, mainly shippers and receavers. this load i am on is a perfect example of that. i sat for 8 hours on a dock before i had to cut my losses and hit a truckstop for the night and leave the trailer for them to get finished. between comming off home time(you are not paid the miles to and from your home time because you are not making th ecompany money) and the sitting and waiting on that load i scored a wopping 36 miles yesterday. that netted me just around 10 dollars. but i will tell you truthfully if you have a good fleet manager and you keep your truck in as good a shape as you can(u take care of the truck, she will take car of you) you can have 3-4 weeks straight that are over 700 dollars take home. live with the 500-600 dollar checks, save whats left of the big ones(i personally keep 2000 stashed in savings for what ever may pop up) and dip into that savings when you have a crap week and only make 3-4 hundred replacing what you took out asap. keeps you moving and keeps you financhialy unscrewed. but the short answer to your question is that it is possable but things happen from time to time to make it rough.

 

plus you can always trying to get on me or spats truck as a trainnee. we can show you so many tricks and ways around stuff it ain't funny. i have had multiple 3400 mile weeks solo and so has spat, and that comes out to around a grand after taxes.....
