Buckeye, I'm 42 and no gray hair but I'm still nervous as he11, I generally do well with concentrated classes, I just hope I can turn what's in my head into practical use. Probably won't need a coat, but I'm carrying a thin hoody for trainer's truck, mountains and desert get a little chilly at night. Not sure about the coffee pot, but they have microwaves at the academy, the motel will have coffee for sure.

i will state a couple of things.

buckeye, the hat should be ok, they didn't like my alabama gear though but it is the whole alabama whooping texases ### that year so i can understand. they will run ya as a team just keep it good. hotel is nice, acadamy quarters suck but i am not one fore communal living so it is just me. you may be able to shack up with your girl but not sure try asking them.

filmore, you will have gray hair after the acadamy.

to all you guys hitting the acadamy, keep your head on tight, LISTEN GOOD, and just do what they say. they know thier #### there and will work you to death but jwill teach you what you need to succed here. i used to be a trainer but stepped down from it because it is not my thing(living in a closet with a stranger SUCKS) but i know alot of good trainers and i know a couple of bad ones. jsut remember when you get to training that it is only 6 weeks and then you get your truck. and while there at tthe acadamy they will tell you that you will all get new trucks. it may not happen. sorry but it is a roll of the dice. i got a hunk of #### out of the acadamy but was rewarded with a BRAND NEW volvo for my time in a crap box 13 letter mistake. and if you got any questions just pop on here and hopefully i will get on here more and maybe, just maybe spat will show his face round here also. good luck guys.

good new look forward to meeting you , thanks redneck for the insight -- we are studing the book now --want to be able to walk in monday morn being able to pass the test lol --not to worried about my trainor --- want hers to be a good one --- want to be able to sleep back there when she drives lol--- will they teach us the proper way to slam the curtain lol-- well we get along great shouldnt happen too much --- would of like to know some details on what happened with playmaker sounded like he was very happy with the company and then whammo --would like to know if its something like your close to getting your year in so lets #### him -- wouldnt think so sounded like it was a personal thing with somebody in the office --- well i was expecting to get a piece of crap truck to start with so anything above that would be a bonus -- my first truck i drove otr was a cornpopper if any of you are old enough to remember those--- no a/c - running south in summer -- didnt sleep much that summer lol --i wonder how it will be the first time back in the saddle --- been 25yrs is it like riding a bike--- well i am going to keep my mouth shut and learn there way -- dont matter what i did it like in the past -- not going to try to tell them anything ---want to learn --- sounds like they like it that way -- want this to work its what we want to do ---not because we cant find anything else-- does anyone know if your trainor feels that your ready do they start to dispatch you as a team -- would seem to make the 6 weeks go by faster and make the trainor some extra cash

playmaker wanted to get more home time and found a company that he could run with closer to home. he had some issues but honestly in this industry that is to be expected. i am less then 2 months from my year and spat is about 2-3 from his and no problems for both of us at all. and my fiance tried to find a way to slam them and was never able to slam them.

thats understandable about playmaker it is a tough grind sometimes out there being away thats why we are teaming up and with all kids grown not much different being out on the road -- we get home once a month spoil the grandkids and take off -- she will have a lot more money to do that with driving --- thinking about doing it for 10 to 15 years then retire and as long as the company is good to us we probley just stay with them --- could run regional also just to get home a little more -- i am not one to jump ship for a couple of cents a mile if i like the company and i did quite of research on different companys and FFE seemed like the best fit for what we needed and i really hate to sit empty in a hick town constantly waiting for loads sure it happens here but the food biz is a lot more steady than the other and from what i gather they keep you going especially the teams --- hey red did you ever notice that if you get someplace you wouldnt mind killing an extra day in they have a load out before your even there well with team shouldnt have to worry about a reset i know its possible but not practical the way things work and if we did run into that we probley would need it lol and does anyone know if they run canada --we have passports allready -- do you still have to switch out the trailor tires in laredo like it was back in the day --

Yes they do have people who run into Canada. Have never changed tires in Loredo. Not knowing what that is about...I would say no.

as an fyi the coffee at the academy is waaaay better then in lancaster.. and EVERY single trlr i have grabbed out of laredo needs a tire swapped out because the mexicans help themselves to anything not bolted down.

i have a trlr right now with 2 baldies that are gonna be swapped out in the morning. they also love to take the glad hand seals. that's happened to me twice. also have to replace the license plate light, they took that too...

be prepared when you are picking up in laredo because the T/A takes forever to swap trlr tires. try to time your 10hr so that it takes place while they are changing out tires.

don't want to scare you away from laredo, but from my experience, that's how they roll down there
