I know some of these questions are dumb. I go to take my hazmat this morning along with trp/doubles. The one good thing about these test are that you have 3 choices. The bad thing is the most common sense one is not always the right one. I guess that is one way to get you to read the book. Good Luck

Without sounding OBTUSE here - no "convictions regarding sexual acts"?

WTF are they talking about? Like as in "rape" - or picking up a lot lizard that happens to have a BADGE? Or the intent to sell or distribute SEX (I've been accused of "distributing sex", but never convicted).

The drug stuff is daily self-explanatory. The sex stuff is "somewhat vague" (not that I have convictions for EITHER - drugs OR sex - LOL)...

    Rick

Also - how much of the "required documents" are "required" if you already have a Class/A PTX Endorsed, TWIC & Passport?

Anyone know what the current policy is on having pets after training? I heard two different stories, and that the policy recently changed (which may account for the discrepancy).
How many have been asked to produce High School Diploma's?
Has the truck shortage been rectified?

I'm seriously considering FFE, looking at a few others, seems few offer training and have a pet policy. Know of any others?

    Thanks, E

Does any one know if after the 18 training days before we get to our trainer do we get to go home or do I need to pack enough stuff for 8 weeks?

applied over the weekend. This company initially wasn't even on my radar but after being turned down by Prime within 2 hours of sending in my application(still can't figure out how they turned me down so fast) and no call back from Millis, I applied, got a call back Monday afternoon. I am "tentatively scheduled" for July 5th for the refresher. I emailed my recruiter back to see if there was any problems moving that date back 2 weeks, I didn't really think far ahead and with me staying home with the kid for the past while, realized I need some time to find a spot for them. 2 days now and no response back from her.

Of my biggest concerns, I have my Class A but got them in straight trucks. I was always taught to drive them either single clutching or floating the gears. My concern is with all the people being sent home getting out there after a 20 hour greyhound ride and being sent home.

I figure I'm more likely to get my answers here, I've read every single page over the past 2 days but still have a few questions.

    - I live 100 miles north of Atlanta but I'm pretty much an hour and 20 minute drive away from any interstate, would I be bringing my truck home? Also if that is the case, when you bring your truck home, are you with a trailer or not. I'm trying to square that away and know if I need to make sure I have a place ready to park it.

    - When people are being let go, are they just driving like idiots or are they just strict on those who don't get everything at first? I've been out of a commercial vehicle for 4 years now and even when I was in one, from my understanding, the trucks are completely different(I did have a truck at one point that had high and low but our trucks had enough power unless pulling hills with equipment to not need low gears).

    - Do the trainers or the school help explain the hours of service because all the information I am finding has me completely confused? Either we were under special exemptions or the company I was with just didn't care to run us illegal. Being with utility contractors who worked emergency storm restorations, I'd imagine that we had some sort of special provisions in place.

hey edge -- dont worry about the driving experience you get the same driving instruction as somebody who never saw the inside of a truck -- the way they work it you are better off never driving before anyways the transmission your talking about is hi/lo axel like dumptrucks the 10 speed has a hi /lo transmission so its completly different -- but dont worry about it all the instructors are really good --- as far as the people going home -- failed physicals or drug tests -- cant pass the written exams (state tests) a lot of people just plain quit-- the way they go is mostly attitude and safety --very few are sent home for driving skills --they figuire your going to get it eventually -- they graduate gear grinders every week but they have good attitudes --- if you go in thinking you know more than them your going to have trouble no matter how good a driver you are -- thats rare but happens--- if you go in with a positive attitude and listen to what they are trying to tell you, they will get you through -- they dont expect you to come out of the school being experts just have safe habits-- they have a terminal in atlanta so you can park truck there but your really close to the cutoff for being far enough away to be able to take truck home which i think is 100 miles --- to the guy that was wondering about the truck shortage they have around 100 brand new tractors sitting at lancaster right now
