Ya our Safety Rating pretty much bites the big one. Hopefully that will change since the academy has opened. All I can do is drive my truck safely and professionally and if that don't work I can always sale my milk and cookies in front of Wally World and drink my KOOL AID and give rides on my fake airplane and say WELCOME TO WAL-MART. But I just don't see that happening in the near future.

It seems FFE is attracting college educated professionals looking for a career change. Many of us were programmers, network admins, television producers and a plethora of other careers. Most companies, FFE included need to improve there image.
If you were a fly on the wall during orientation you would have seen the "Truckers" that were jumping from other companies were disappearing from the room and the "Newbies" are the ones being retained. FFE is working hard to improve to improve there image and its obvious.
Someone asked about the amount of funds to bring. Treyzguy will argue with me on this...But I would suggest $75 for license fees, $100 a week for food and a $100 extra for the security.
So $450-$500 Is what I would be comfortable with. Can you get away with less? Absolutely!!!!! You can squeak by with $200-250 but if you can scrape up more it will make the experience more comfortable.
It was nice to be able to order a pizza, Chinese, or walk over to Sonic for a burger. Or have a little extra to buy a few trinkets and toiletries.
Treyzguy ran out of Tampons and neck reducing cream the first week, so... Use your own judgement, make a list, budget and use common sense.
Just dont show up with 50 bucks, we had a few of those folks and it was hard to enjoy my Lobster with them starring at me like a hungry dog as they ate catsup on crackers. -
I like your sense of humor Spat.
Good luck to you. -
Thanks Spat...
All the help is greatly appreciated!! Now all I have to do is see if any family members or friends can help us out (my wife and I)! I'll keep you guys posted!! Thanks again! -
Could someone just go to FFE just for training? And leave for another company And just pay back tuition?

Dang Spat you must have been eating lobster. This is just what a did I bought my groceries spent 68.00 for them, lasted me about 11 days. Now it wasn't a Spat Dinner or anything like that but I was never hungry. Get in a habit of what your going to budget for food on the road, it is training. Cash wise I would bring about $100 after you buy groceries, and license fees. Good luck hope you make a way to come here.

After you get your own assigned truck, how much is their weekly guarantee?

Well I have just finished my second day and so far the training is TOP NOTCH. The trainers are great so far also. Connie is a firecracker and full of energy and great with instructions. Gary(i think that is his name but I am bad with names) is awesome. He will tell u like it is and not just blow smoke up your add. Candy is a hoot. A little on the quiet side but when she speaks up you listen. Staying at the hotel due to lack rooms at the dorm so I have no clue what they are like. Equipment is pretty good. They sent new trucks but they sent run down hunks. Heat wise I am suprised I havnt burst into flames yet but the TELL YOU to stay in the shade that they have there for everyone and bring out gatorade, water and water mistress to keep you cool while u are out there. Even supply sun screen for the students. In other words THEY CARE ABOUT STUDENTS here at ffe. I am happy that I found playmakers post about the company and am glad I went with them and look forward to working for them for a long while.
