having one of those ready to quit type of days lol---- picked up a load in ottumwa ia -- 3 stops in in ct. a brooklyn and hunts point -- I took it becasuse it gave me a drive by at home and it looked like i would get 2 nights at the house so that would be worth the new york hassel -- was originally a 1am sunday and a 4 am and 6 am so sounded doable --- well cargill/millards screwed me out of a day at home right out of the gate well still had about 22 hours of hometime then about have way across pa got message on peoplenet that they were not able to confirm any appointments but changed them to 6am with the second stop at noon and the third stop at 830 am a little hard to do without a time machine and dont know how they came up with those times without talking to anybody -- i had asked when i left iowa for them to confirm everything so if there was a problem i could wait at home and it wouldnt be a problem anyways i get to first stop and i didnt have an appointment but got unloaded anyways so i was in brooklyn by 4 am but the place was locked up so i waited and slept still no one by noon called them but got an answering machine in chinese . ffe wanted me to hang out there untill tommorow but wasnt the best area so took of to new jersey , there not letting me drop it till tommrow in burlington in case they are open on memorial day and i can make deliveries --- chances are slim that both will be open on a holiday -- supposed to get layover pay but havent got po yet -- have to hound them some more till i get it -- it is not worth the hassel to go back to new york and i will lose money by doing so and told them i dont want to go back in --- meat loads suck i try to stay out of the meat patch as much as possible but still get 1 a month this sitting around for no money justs sucks , most of the meat loads have too much time on them

I used to hate NJ and NYC but I have done it so much I can do it in my sleep, after chaining down and tarping off th Chi town I go or Indy whoop whoop. Wishing I can get a load to Ft. Worth here soon...lol stop by and say look who ya sent home....well thank ya I got me a real truck(Kw 900L, b650 cat, 18 speed) lol i even haul oversized...and to think they sent me home for bumping a curb on their road test. Heard a lot of the guys in my class saying I got lucky nd left.

Hey Buckeye I know how you fill every time I get sent to Brooklyn I lose money with the usually 3-4 drop loads the last trip did it for me. I'm looking for my escape plan now checking with other companies I only have 2 months left here to fulfill my 1 yr contract but not sure if its worth it to stay.

Most other drivers I talk to their company pays them extra to deliver into NY and come across the GW bridge $150-$200 more, delivering to Bogopa in Brooklyn made me realize they ain't paying me enough to take their ###### at these receivers anymore. I keep getting sent to the Northeast the only time I see the west is on home time than I get sent right back to the northeast even though I said I eventually want western regional if I'm even going to consider staying here, but they just shine me on so I'm out of here.

I swear I think they have me down as Northeast Regional not OTR I live right off a I-80 a main trucking route going into Calif. but I never see it until its time to go home.
Anyways have a good one ,I just know for me this is not the company I want to stay with as a company driver.

I think they try really hard to keep us well away from home when we are out. I live an hour and a half from Lancaster and when I'm on the road I rarely get loads to TX. Several times I have picked up a load going through Lancaster and they interchange me before I get close.

most other trucking companies pay 50-100 dollars to deliver in nyc, next time call before you take off down the road most companies will not receive during the holidays , that is true about the final drive test they will kick you out if you mess up . But after 9 weeks training your expected to get it right.

Not sure if true or not but once at Hunts Point was told by a driver for SueVinje he got $150 dollars extra if he had to come into NYC, anyways even $50-$100 is better than nothing which is what I'm getting at the time.

Also even though drivers may live near the lancaster yard the 3 week rule they still enforce doesn't sound right for someone who lives so close cant go home more often but then on the other hand I suppose it wouldn't be fair if they got to go home more often then other drivers..

The last place I worked for delivered to the bronx we got $50 for going into the city and $50 for unloading with a electric pallet jack (15 mins) with a 280 delivery that was a good days pay..
