that's a fun trip to frostburg nice winding mt road getting up there and once you get there the dock is a joke lol but they load you fast with fire bricks going to Sinclair oil refinery where it takes them awhile to get you unloaded , but its less than a mile from a truckstop . I had that one in june and there were 5 other ffe trucks on same day . one driver blew 2 trailer tires on a guard rail getting out of frostburg , you have to crossover into the oncoming lane on some of the curves or you hit the guardrail or rub the trailer on the mountain or go over the side ---- its called adventure trucking -- getting off the interstate and sightseeing lol --- lady said it took 5 hours for somebody to come out and fix the tires --- slide your tandems all the way up that helps , don't be afraid to cross into the other lane you cant see if anything is coming because of the curve but the four wheelers can get out of the way lol its a lot better than losing your trailer or fcing something up

I heard today there were some kllm trailers in Lancaster , has anybody pulled any of them yet , I was talking to a kllm driver and he said there recruiters were starting to find student applicants for the academy and it sounds like it is going to be a joint school soon , so maybe you could go in with ffe and fail out and come back the next week with kllm lol . I think the merger could be a good thing after it gets the kinks worked out , haven't really heard if they are going to combine the dispatch systems or run them separate and just exchange loads ---- hows the showers in Jackson lol ---

I do know the academy is staying intact. Everything else is kinda up in the air from what it seems here.

The two companies will offically merge on Nov. 4. Truckload will be going to Qualcomm's while LTL stay on PeopleNet. We will also be changing back to Commdata instead of TCH/EFS. Lease Purchase drivers will have the option to convert over to the KLLM Lease Purchase Program. Company trucks will still be limited to 62mph. After Nov.4, there will be alot less people (Staff) at the Lancaster terminal. Lancaster terminal will remain open for LTL and TL and the shop will still be there. The Lancaster terminal will also be getting a makeover sometime after Nov. 4. They are building a brand new terminal in Laredo that suppose to be open in a couple of months. Your pay will remain the same. All drivers that do not currently have Haz-Mat will eventually be required to get it. The school will remain open. Also, KLLM trainers pay half of the students pay. KLLLM pays them $200 and the trainer pays them $200.
I know this because the President/CEO of KLLM of at Lancaster a few days ago when I was there and he talked to a bunch of drivers both 1 on 1 and in a class.Lhallowell and lbkcam Thank this. -
that's good to know macho . I had heard rumors about ffe lease ops and o/ops getting a 5000 bonus for changing to the kllm lease , there pay is structured a little different from what we are used too , the mileage pay is .88- 1.50 per mile depending on length of trip and all reefer fuel is paid and the fuel surcharge is done different and from what a kllm and I figured out its a little higher at kllm so the pay will be the same EXCEPT KLLM DRIVERS GET DETENTION PAY --- $10 an hour for company drivers after 3 hours and $20 an hour for o/ops --- that's good enough for me -- tell lumper take your time I am in no hurry lol -- and kllm lowest pay is 32 cents a mile for company drivers --- kllm leases are longer and a little less per week and the final ballon payment is $1 --- will be so happy with the detention pay -- kllm also has a open trip lease load board wich means they have more freight than trucks -- mostly in the south ms, la,al.tn and Arkansas , this keeps sounding better all the time --- I am a little scared about going to quailcom because don't want to lose the pc miles lol we will just have to see how that works out . all there terminals 5 I think are in the same cities as ours except for Jackson . we will see I how the dispatch is going to be handled now , kllm trips average a little shorter than FFe and they are more team friendly than our truckload for long hauls . in any event there will be a lot more regional opportunitys available now and in different areas
lbkcam and Lhallowell Thank this. -
