wE LEAVE YOU GUYS ALONE FOR A MINUTE AND YOU GO NUTS...
Just cleared trainer, set up for my own truck. Things are not moving as fast as I would like. Anxious I guess. It is a 60K+ vehicle. Why shouldn't they be wary? Be patient, the academy is great. But, then theres the trainer. Lets branch this out to another thread PM....FFEAcad, trainerTrash..look for it! -
Hay trez u in Lancaster waiting on a truck. If so see ya at the terminal tomorrow. I am at the hotel to go back there and hoping for a trainer.

I just finished reading every page of this, and it was truly informative. I've gained a whole new respect for FFE, and really didn't have anything bad to say about them to begin with.
I started driving in 2000, drove for the better part of 7 years, mostly OTR, both as a company driver and a lease operator, did some local gigs, and came off the road in October 2007. I now work for the state of OK, and while it's decent pay, great benefits, and kinda nice to be home every night and have a social life, I miss being out there on the road. I miss the smell of diesel fumes at dawn, the sound of the tires on the pavement...I miss driving! I don't miss the traffic, the crazy delivery times, (have pulled both van and reefer) or any of the other bs that truckers have to deal with...but I still want back in. Either i'm crazy, or diesel is in my blood, LOL!
I still have my CDL, no endorsements, and know that I will need at least a refresher course. I'd rather not start from scratch with school again, but if that's what I have to do then I will. To me, 3 1/2 years off the road hasn't caused me to forget anything, and I keep up with all the latest news and regulations...with my current job, it's a good idea...but I understand that the insurance companies are the ones that really decide these things.
I plan on calling FFE and a few other companies in the next few days, once i've fully made up my mind that I need to ditch the office life...and I pretty much have decided that.
I guess my only real question before I call them is do they have a refresher course, or will I have to start from scratch? Like most people, I can't afford to be without a paycheck for long, so it'll be September, maybe October before I could even start...need time to get the bills in order and save some money.denton Thanks this. -
The do have a refresher course, that is what I did. They may or may not have u go through it but who knows. But if they do it is 14 days long and it isn't bad at all. The people there are great. Hope that helps.
personalstranger Thanks this. -
Thanks rednecktigger, I appreciate the info. FFE just might be the way to go.

I have a friend leaving for fort worth on Sunday to start the FFE school and I was telling him about this thread. This is very informative. Does FFE run teams?

Hey lonewolf, why are you an ex-trucker and not current? Just curious.
