Like you I was considering Central Refer and initially posted that I had applied online with them 1st. However, today was when Omar finally got around to contacting me via telephone and I had already accepted the spot with FFE. That was one of the reasons was the timeliness of FFE of course for me staying in Texas for training was a major plus. I also appreciate the matter of not having to repay monthly my training costs. The other comparisons between the 2 companies seemed to be about even as far as my research; this was what I shared with Omar when he contacted me. I appreciated his efforts, but I had already made my decision.

    WTGal,

I really didnt have a time issue with Central "Robin" called me within the first day of my application, and I really do see a big comparsion between the two.

FFE will start me out at .29 cpm and avg leaght of haul is 1500 with newer trucks. they also do not push the lease program on you like central does. Straight from jump street robin told me i would in the truck for 90 days then I would get a load through salt lake and become a lease driver after 90 days I would go back to slat lake and learn to become a trainer. I do not want that pushed on me that fast.

    WTGal Thanks this.

Thank you for reinforcing that I made the right decision; filling in the blanks as I didn't spend that long on the phone with Omar to find out about being pushed on the lease which I don't want any part of this early in the game:biggrin_25513:
As for time being an issue with me, I wasn't going to jump into something that I wasn't comfortable with, but after 6 months of unemployment and another 6 making $12 an hour. I was ready for something positive to happen and had decided that truck driving was it- deciding where to go was the decision and I am not much for procrastinating when I make up my mind:biggrin_25512: to many years of working in a very time is of the essence occupation.

Hay wvupride FYI, there is a ltl area down in Atlanta and if it is not local it is probably regional(dont take my word though cause not 100%). Ask your recruiter. Hell you may be able to get into that easy if u move to Atlanta area and be home every night. BTW the ltl people make a mint. From what I have heard a g is not to uncommon of a thing for some ltl people(again it is what I have heard so not 100% ).

To all the the guys and gals starting on the 15th. I will try to get by the academy to say Hello. Just remember FFE is not perfect they will make you mad and cuss their name sometimes. But like I said thousand times before just treat it as your business and get out here and take pride in what you do i.e don't be late on loads try to do 560 to 580 a day. They will see this hopefully and keep you running. Keep great records so they will be no issues with payroll. I am glad this thread was a help to a lot of future drivers. Take be safe. If you want to get on Greg Peace the director of the school good side tell him BOOMER SOONER, tell him I said it he will get a kick out of it.
