American driver, I would bring, DL, ORIGINAL NON-Laminated ss card, ORIGINAL or certified copy (with Seal) Birth certificate and w-2's from the past 3 years.

If your on any RX, bring a letter (with letterhead) from your Doctor. It must state that it is safe to operate a "COMMERCIAL VEHICLE".

Other than that, read the beginning of this thread on the items to bring.

Someone asked about a laptop and camera.... YES. Bring earbuds too, after orientation you have to do some online classes and it takes fricken forever, its nice to have your own laptop for this.

EARPLUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! you might get a roommate with a stupid ringtone, and snores really bad.

    Playmaker,

I have an update for you on the tanker program.

So I am now day 3 at the Fort Worth Academy. First day of class, they knew all about the new water tanker pilot program, and even had a study guide and test synopsis available. I will be pulling water tankers out of Midland, TX. Pay is per hour not per mile. working 10-12 hour days. 4 days on 2 days off.

1st couple of days here were tough. L-O-N-G hours. lots of studying. Lots to learn.

Today was permit testing day at DPS. Out of the 7 people in my group, only myself and one other guy passed. BRUTAL.

But the good news is I get to go to the backing range tomorrow while everyone else is retesting.

Any advice besides being prepared for the heat?

I would imagine, he would have to move to a state they do hire from.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile been running our butts off. Last week was a great week for us, 5897 miles. We are running dedicated Johnson & Johnson and Con-way and doing some LTL yard to yard stuff. The new truck is running great ( knock on wood). My girl friend is still on truck still waiting to see when she might leave the truck. As for FFE hauling tankers, WOW I stand corrected. Good luck to all the recent Grads I am glad this thread I started is helping to start some new careers for people.

Lots of my classmates and even those a week ahead of us are waiting for trucks. Might have to run teams to generate some extra cash, since all miles ran are paid at full newbie pay. Great money, but was so looking forward to going home to see my girls. Least I got a stop through during training, so it isnt so bad. No trucks,,,dam. It sucks that so many want to haul, and they have tons of freight that needs moving, but ,,,,

You might want to think about that. When you run teams CPM is split. The pay goes to truck then it's split. Like me and girlfriend get .19 CPM each but we have one checking account so the whole .38 CPM paid to truck goes in that account. Are they telling you something different?
