It's not the rich minority, parse. It's the way our government was set up. The US is not a true democracy. It is a republic with a representative democracy. The majority of the states and population can be against what the federal government does, and it doesn't matter.
the idea that the beliefs and actions of one man reflects an entire nations beliefs is quite naive. That was no less truth then as it is now.
The new restart rule actually caused me to drive more instead of its intention

Here is some more useless information, but George Washington was NOT the 1st president. We had 14 presidents before him.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
He was the only one to figure out how to cross an icy river......
Now the river is flowing down stream....and no elected official in the boat!Ghost Ryder Thanks this. -
Why does this conjure an image of Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven?
"Tired? Tired's got nuthin' to do with it." -
It's gonna matter to you pretty soon, lol. It seems E-logs are going to be mandatory for all companies involved in interstate travel next year. I'm not sure if it's already official or just in the works, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't seem like anything like this gets turned down...
On the breaks subject, coming from a student only (outside observer pretty much still), I'd say they're a necessary evil based on how reckless, ignorant and uncaring most people (drivers being people as well of course) are now. I've seen lots of people on this site argue that they know their limits better than a machine, and I believe you. That's how people with common sense are. Common sense isn't common anymore though. The sad truth is that I'm sure most of the drive limit rules are helping prevent some accidents.
The 30 minute break rule is annoying, but it's gonna help some people, and I honestly don't think it's that big a deal for those that don't appreciate it. Think about all the drivers stuck working for the "bottom feeders", or similar companies putting their drivers on strict deadlines, now they get scheduled breaks they wouldn't have been "allowed" before.
On that note, I think the 2 1 to 5 am break period rule is a huge load of BS. White collars that have never worked nights think drivers need quality sleep at night. I may not have behind the wheel experience yet, but I've worked nights. When you're used to working nights, you're just as used to sleeping during the day. I used to get as tired during the day as "normal" people do at night. This rule is pretty much just unfair to teams and/or people that prefer night driving. The best it's gonna do is make people that like to drive at night, drive during the day (when they're tired!) to play with their reset times.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
It is under the MAP 21 on the EOBR where it is but no funding.
As far as the break of 30 minutes.
Just wait till you get caught by it just before you reach a big city and think you would have missed the rush hour, but the stupid break now makes you take it on the wrong side of town and you get to play in the traffic then. -
Oh, I'm sure I'll hate it then, lol. I just think the blame for this change falls on all the companies that work their drivers with no breaks. For all you experienced guys, you can stay away from that, but there's plenty of drivers "stuck" in those situations who I'm sure really like getting to actually stop to eat lunch.
In a perfect world, "we" wouldn't need these stupid rules, but there are a portion of the carriers and drivers that have made them deemed necessary. -
Americans....... We will kill you in your sleep on Christmas.

How can an experienced guy stay away from it?
I got stuck with it.
No matter where you take the break, the delay happens. In the past, you would just push a bit longer or a short stop to use restroom and boogie across the town then take a break. Not anymore.
