The new restart rule actually caused me to drive more instead of its intention

If you start with a fresh 11 and 14 and drive for 3 hrs and stop (off-duty) for 30 minutes. When you start driving again you will have 8 hrs left on your 11 and 10.5 hrs left on your 14. Which means you could drive 8 hours straight without taking another break if you wanted to because that's all the time you'd have left on your 11 hrs drive time anyways.

Of course I'm not including a pretrip in this scenario, but you get my drift.

You sound as if you feel your being forced to do something. You don't have to take a 34 its not mandatory you can run off your recap. Sorry but I always find it funny when someone says they're being forced to do something in a truck, unless I'm missing something here? is there person holding a gun to your head in your truck?
Also since you say you may have not had enough time to make your apt from your current location, why was it a bad thing that you needed to move closer to you customer.

My elog does the same thing only mine displays 7:45 because I make sure I always do a 15 minute pretrip. :biggrin_255: But I know what you mean. You're talking about at the very beginning of the day, BEFORE you've done your pretrip.

I suspect there are going to be huge numbers of unintended consequences with this new nanny law. Probably enough to write a book about.

Call it your lunch if you work less than 12 hour shifts.

I eat snacks all day long. Much healthier than stopping places. I sit in intermodal lots and check in and out equipment all day so they all have timestamps.

    Not surprised.

They have to be DOT certified to look at them.
