The New Walmart and what you can expect.

you know what? I feel that is exactly what happened! Makes complete sense to me. That crash screwed up alot of things for WM.

 

Not as much as online shopping.... maga brick/mortar stores are antique ....

It’s not like they offer any service in the store. So why go to them... just buy it online and ship it to the house.

Walmart sucks anyways.....,

 

Well WM vowed that they would never loose that much money again. And said that WMT is a liability to WM.

 

Walmart by my house now has a sign on the building....free 2 day shipping...trying to imitate Amazon...Wal-Mart will NEVER replicate Amazon ..

 

I just can't see it that way. Online shopping is definitely increasing but it's not ever going to eliminate the need to have well stocked stores within 5 miles for the average person. Online shopping is mainly to obtain those unique items you'd have run all over town trying to find.

It makes no sense to by macaroni and soup online, and go to the store to buy meat, eggs, and milk.

 

I just mean to say that may have been the final straw after kicking the idea around prior. But it seems the Walmart driving culture (private fleet) started grumbling unhappiness about changes about a year later.

 

A lot of places you can order the meat eggs and milk online pull up and either have it brought to your car or walk in and pick it up without waiting in line and thats assuming you dont have it delivered like some places are doing

 

Okay fine. But the stores are still requiring a lot of merchandise delivered [from DC to store via truck] to them every day and the neighborhood stores aren't going anywhere "because of Amazon", which is my larger point.

 

At one point WM had delivery trucks for groceries. But it didt work out, witch they got into that market way to late. There's a company in Atlanta that started doing that in 98 or 99. And many others got into in way before now. WM was slacking on that.

Then came the package delivery thing with WM. But that didn't work also. WM seems to have been getting into things later than others. Amazon has UPS, USPS, and regular ppl in there personal cars delivering there packages. With no hick ups like WM, they need to start getting innovative!!!

 

The home delivery service thing is popular but it's as big as it's going to get. Reality will set in soon and packaging and package delivery costs are going to soar soon to the point consumers will have to think twice about ordering online for home delivery. It's not a matter of if but just a matter of when, and where will the average consumer draw a line as to what convenience is really worth for staple items available on a shelf down the street a few miles.
