My experience is bad. Highway asks for the proof your Elog exempt. However someone at xyz broker needs to approve the override. Highway doesn't contact broker. Broker has asked me to call highway. This is were I have found highway to be absolutely useless. I have not spoke to a single person at highway who had any idea of the trucking industry which they want to improve.

My main complaint, is everyone is worried about verification of carriers, but what's in it for me. Most of these brokers don't have great credit and pay slow. They 75k bond is a absolute joke for a company going under.

I have filed on 3 bonds this year to get paid. When do we get a company to act in the interest of the carriers to vet brokers? I want some type of guaranteed payment. In a timely manor. I should not have to use a third party factoring company for 1,2,3% or the same for quick pay from broker to collect the money owed to me.

Unless you agree to open up your ELD to tracking then how are they going to track you?

Nope. Not gonna happen. I will never volunteer for an inspection.

This cost me a load now and then but I've been doing OK lately.

I don't know if they can track your movements 24/7. But if they do, then I guess you have to take the good with the bad. What sneaky things am I going to do while under a load? If I'm doing my job, then I have nothing to worry about. When I'm away from my truck and the ELD is off, I have nothing to worry about, right? Besides, we can be tracked through our phone by other entities. So, what's the difference?

You know, the bonds ARE a joke. That's why you need to go after the SHIPPER or whoever benefited from your work.

Fair enough. I was just giving you a solution. But what's the difference if you volunteer or they inspect you on their dime? At least if you volunteer, you can get your truck bullet-proof beforehand and pass. And if you pass a couple, you're less likely to be inspected in the near future.

It’s nice to know that mom and pop owner operators are allowing the corporate bullies to get their hands on more freight volume information than they already have so they can blame someone else in 10 years for stagnant freight rates! SMH You are welcoming cutthroat competition with open arms! “But my customers super duper love me and would never take a chance on some silver tongue broker.” Personally, I don’t want Highway or anyone else knowing my whereabouts unless I am under a load that actually involves them! Think about all the capacity vs freight volume data they so desperately want that you are gonna hand over on a silver platter? Some of you will probably still act like victims here in a decade when you see Achmed or Vladimir pulling his white Volvo into your former customers yard after you lose an account for not competing with some algorithm savvy, lip service, desk jockey’s no skin in the game $1.70 rate!

And I hate that, while I never called anyone at highway, ive gotten set up with a few who over ride the log exempt no problem. But, then there is someone who wants proof that im elog exempt. What kind of proof do they need?? LOL, they claim im required to carry proof of being exempt for inspection purposes(which of course, there's no truth to that)

I had to supply a picture of my door sticker build sheet. Truck is titled 2000, with a 1999 build date. That adds to the confusion. With a 94 block and a 2015 reman date.
