You would be fine. Just don't bother the locals. A few areas probably should not park like Highland Park, but anywhere outside of the projects is fine.
I loaded in Highland Park, more than anything the cops felt the most hostile. They were the only people honking and raising a fuss over my presence.
Just drive about a half an hour away from the inner city areas to the burbs. You'll be alright.

I've run the northeast for over 30 years and never had a problem but I know where I will park and where I wont .
I retired from nyc a few years ago so my info there is dated .
Dont do Boston anymore either ....parking ....
Newark NJ...yes .
Camden nj ..maybe.
Patterson NJ...no way .
Philly...yes but only in the packer ave area .
Bronx market ...all day everyday.
The last few years I've started doing LA are loads to and that place worries me more the NYC ever did in terms of crazy people .

Used to be a sugar warehouse in downtown Portland. Narrow streets had a ltl guy tell me they just run a pup down there. I had a full load on a 53'reefer.
