I am very familiar with garden city - they have 4 fuel stops and the only one owned/operated by Mexican Americans is on the southside off the loop.

the "no anglo" comment should have been taken up and filed on...

any group that comes here and tries to make an "extension" of their homeland has got to be put down - and to put it honestly "persuaded" to acclimate...

My family did - you do not hear us speaking German or Romansch in public... nor do you see us hanging out with an all Swiss crew. and doing biz with only Swiss run companies and shops...

Your dad was right. I don't have a problem with immigrants as long as they come here LEGALLY, learn the language, fit in, and obey our laws. Outside of that and they should just go back home!

Seems as if you missed this part.........

Most of them come by that label honestly.

I think you are very right about the union shops being ONE of the last strongholds(not that there are not millions of courteous, respectful and proffesional nonunion drivers out there,me being one of them.lol).I think the reason that is is because they are WAY more selective about who they hire.Swift and there ilk couldn't care less about respectfull, clean, courteous, knowledgable drivers...they just want a warm body. And since the bigger companies combined have the majority of the drivers on the road,we ALL get lumped into that same herd in an unknowing public's eye. It's a sad situation for those of us left who remember the old ways and miss the days when respect for each other was the first rule of the road. Most of these weasels out there now are flipping burgers one day and a couple of weeks later they are behind the wheel of a class 8 truck. Most have no background in it nor desire to do it other than the promise of big pay by a lying recruiter. And to boil it all down and at the risk of sounding rude, all you have to do is go read the thousands of posts on this site by these guys who are to stupid to read all the sad stories about these big companies crushing folks dreams. They(greenhorns) still come on here with the same questions and comments over and over..."Is Swift a good company"...I don't know, read the ten thousand posts from people who've lost everything from dealing with them then figure it out...."I'm leaving for Swifts cdl mill today, wish me luck"....yeah,you'll NEED it buddy....If these folks are not smart enough to figure it out by now with this site up to inform you by drivers opinions and stories then IMHO they are probably to stupid to drive out on the road with any semblance of safety or respect.:biggrin_25518:

Same here, I've seen a huge change in just the last couple yrs.
Even O/Os no longer give you a courteous blink of the lights.
Want to hear some thing really strange? Lately (last couple months) well over 50% of the Swift trucks I pass will give a guy the lights. I can't believe it.

    Right on driver.

I don't aim to toss the salad here......and I do like a good discussion,......but there looks to be some bi-polarities in ole 777's posts.
You opinionize everyones opinions with Freudian character assassination fluff, calling peeps out, then hypocrasize yourself in your rebuttal. I am guessing you may be "aiming" to ruffle some feathers with personal attacks and characterizations, but I am probably wrong somehow. Just my observation.....

....... where do we as humans get self respect, pride in ones self, consideration for others, work ethic, honor, dignity, trust, morals?

What are we to expect from slovenly, dirty, obnoxious, rude, hateful, lazy, careless people? Can we draw opinions from such attributes?

Speaking of a loss of common courtesy ......... many are the clowns that have been banned from this site for their lack of courtesy.

That was not meant to be a stab at any one still here. It was meant 100% the way it was written.

After I posted it I was afraid some one would take it the wrong way.

    Summer 1969...thanks to Charles Manson.

Have to say that during summer months If I have a long stretch to do and know that my drop/pick-up isn´t going to happen for many hours I have used Bermudashorts and sandals.
I might even stop for a swim if there´s a lake near a truckstop and have done it on several occasions.
Take a bite and some icecream to that and you feel like your´e on a holiday.
But Working I use protective gear nomatter how hot.

So I have to agree with both of you.
