Theres probally hundreds of these kinds of stories. My favorite was those gals that always wanted to know if I would like some company.. ;) Of course I always said "Well, i am a little lonely, sure, hop in." Then I would sit and chat with them up front. And they would always hint about the "extra features" they are really trying to provide. But I would just yap and yap and yap away like I didnt understand what the heck they were refering to. The longest someone let me yap about random bs was about 45 minutes and she slapped me across my face before taking off out of my rig because she asked to use my awsome cb radio I was flaunting. And I told her "Hmm, thats not a good idea because you haven't washed your hands and I see you have some kind of crispy flakes on them".

Not sure what those flakes were, but I'm pretty sure I didn't want the screen on my mic to absorb them and then at some point they end up on me, or in my teethers. ;)

One time I was at a truck stop on I-95 in North Carolina. A little hatchback pulled up & stopped in front of the truck I was parked next to, and the guy got out & came up to the door cuz he saw I was sitting in the drivers seat. He said he was trying to get from Florida to NYC because his mom was sick or dying or something like that.

Something about his car looked suspicious to me.

I asked him why he would think he could make it all the way up the east coast without enough money for gas, & he said he thought he could make it cuz he left with a full tank of gas, and figured out would take 2 days to get to NYC, and usually a tank of gas lasts him a week going to work & back.

Ok, so at this point I almost believed him, ... because how many people would admit to being that stupid? But something on his car still told me he was lying.

So I asked how long he'd been living in Florida. He seemed agitated that I was trying to change the subject but he said "All my life". Then I asked him how long he's had that car. He was getting frustrated & said "I don't know, a year maybe?".

So I said "So what's with the North Carolina license plates?" :biggrin_25523:

He said "#### you man" & got back in his car & floored it.

Generally speaking most people I dont think really need the help that are seeking. We've offered sandwhiches to those that are hungry, but they dont want to eat them. We've offered fuel in the vehicle, but they'd rather have the money. We #### chat with them for a little bit, and they get all agrivated cuz the money isn't being placed in their hands fast enough. Though I've helped a few people that really needed the help. So i think it just all boils down to if the person wanting etc is willing to prove they are wanting etc by jumping through a few hoops we place for them.

I gave someone a shower ticket and a ride from El Paso TX to Phoenix AZ just because they helped me. But the person didn't start his sentence with "gimmie" either though.. It was more like a "Hey, could you use some extra help?" All I replied with was "Depends, what are you refering too?" If I would of said no, I'm not sure where the convo would of went. But I do know my steps were never that shiny because of my elbow grease, and my mirriors never seemed so clean, and my hood didn't have any oil splats on it from the overhead car rack.

As for that woman that laid the smackith down across my face with the palm of her hand. All I know is I was so glad I didn't get anything in my eyes. Cuz she honestly smacked me so hard I thought for sure she was trying to dust off her hands like we do w/ shaking out a rug lol.
