You start your day early, 4-5am. You get to a truck stop early for a good spot to end the day, 3-4pm. You back in, shut down, take a look around at the miles of room in front of you (heck, the fuel islands are right there. How could this spot be compromised?) and think to yourself about the absolute impossibility of finding your truck in a clusterf!ck come morning. The alarm goes off. The first thing you do is open the curtains a pinch, too much and the sight of what was impossible coming at you so quick might lead to a brain aneurysm. There, all around, in every nook and cranny, in the places their not supposed to be, in the places that are just plain ignorant to park, in the only place to turn and exit the facility without having to backup are trucks trucks trucks. How does one allow himself to think that it's fine to park anywhere there is room??? Because you are tired?? Plan your day better. Don't screw people who park in designated tractor trailer parking spots and for some reason expect to be able to make a clean getaway come the new day. Why should we have to worry about this when shutting down for the day? I personally wish these trucks would be ticketed or towed. I was at the flying j this morning in Texarkana and everyone had to drive through the catscale to exit because of how packed it was. It's amazing how herd like truck drivers are. If one guy parks in a spot that isn't designated then another one comes along and thinks its ok to park right next to him and so on and so on untill there is no ground left.
The Perfect Parking Spot.... NOT!

Welcome to today's world of truck driving.
Mommas_money_maker, Mud Dog, Red Hot Mess and 2 others Thank this. -
now you know about the J in Texarkana.
Next time you will plan your day better and not go there.
Edit: Drives me nuts when someone says that. "plan you day better" I run with the hours I have left; wherever that puts me. It's not realistic to shut down a few hours early because the truckstops might be filling up.Last edited: Feb 19, 2012
Points South, Lonesome and j3411 Thank this. -
Parking at that Flying J was your first mistake. It's a ########### no matter what time it is.

haha, I got trapped in there one time just because I needed to go to the restroom. Never again will I stop in Texarkana.

I try to make sure I have enough of everything and find a peaceful rest area. But if by chance it's a trk stop.I try to find a spot thats easy to get out and no idiot driver blocks me in.I have to laugh when i see these drivers try and back in the most hardest spot just so they can be close to the buffet, lol.I always park way in the back unless I have laundry to do.
Cudascious Thanks this. -
I will stop 46 miles north just to avoid that cluster J

I shut down at 3 pm, parked in the back at the FJ on 71 north of Columbus. Left at 3:30 am and there were still 2 spots open on either side of me and had to navigate the carnage around the scale and fuel island to get out.
Jackson, GA ... at 7pm already a cluster f%ck around the fuel island and scale ... navigate though it ... the entire back row is empty next row half full and plenty of spots in the other rows. -
There's also a little old truck stop with some parking one exit east of that J on the north side.
