Been debating on engines lately. I've been grossing 120k on weight, yanking cement loads around locally and not sure if the MX13 will be able to handle it. I've had afew trucks with paccars and they're pretty #### gutless on hills but then again, they were set at 455/1650. Not sure how big a difference the 510/1850 would be paired with potentially 3.90s and 18 speed.

You can set it & gear it however you want but it'll still have all the problems that Pac engines are known for.

My previous truck had a 510/1850 Paccar and was a factory 4 axle truck with a lift axle. I bought it at 240k and pulled the axle off. I pulled pneumatic (anywhere from 78-88k gross) and hopper (anywhere from 90-100k gross) and about 6 months on a dry van. It had 3.36 rears, 18 speed, and low 22.5’s. I had zero issues with the motor itself, had to replace a couple NOx sensors and the def level sensor. I sold the truck January 2022 with 600k on it. The lift axle went back on it and it’s been pulling a triple axle milk tank ever since.

I used to deliver National Cement II/V to DMI Oxnard CA they had 1 portable silo setup with 5" all the way and I could unload into that silo in less than 5 mintes per trailer, (J&L Doubles) if they had both of the 5" silos open it would take about 7 minutes to blow off both at once.
Alo had a batch plant in Dominguez Hills, standard plant 4" plumbing both trailers would take about 10 minutes, at the same time. Just depends on how the plant is setup, if they hasve a goog bag house.
When I would unload at Edwards AFB they would have us open the lids, stay in the truck idle the blower and it was about 3 minutes per trailer because there bag house had tons of vaccum.
Everything is a verable, you just never know. The other side is true also, Precision Agrates plant at Boulder Dam Bridge project had screens inline a 3" line and if could take 30 minutes per trailer sometimes longer. -
We run about 1300-1400 cubic feet of flour in three and four hopper trailers so 48,000 to 52,000 lbs and it takes us a minimum of 45 minutes at our quickest place and almost three hours at the slowest. This excludes the open blow into the pit I posted pictures of earlier. We only have two locations that do that and it’s about a 25 minute process. That’s the only open blow rest is into 4” pipe

Anyone on here have any experience with J&M Tank Lines? They're advertising in my neck of the woods. Think they're based in Alabama, I used to see them when I'd run down south, but that was 13 years ago.
Just wondering if they're decent. My brother in law is looking for a dry bulk position here in Central Pennsyltucky, and not having much luck -
here in this area I could load 56,000 lbs, off loads times also varies by the product, quick lime is tough as its sticky, gyp fines were ok but gyp rock could take an hours sometimes. I also did a white rock blown up on top rooftops, had water injected into your product line also, 2 sometimes 3 hours.
J&M mtrailers are as good as any.LTL Bull Thanks this. -
Dolo sure is, hi-cal not so much. And hydrate is light and fluffy.LTL Bull Thanks this.
