Had the pleasure of picking up this brand new set today that'll go into our small fleet. Too bad they won't be mine.

I tell ya... The view sure was nice looking back in my mirrors. I felt pretty darn cool rolling down the road with those behind me.

Had my first open air pit unload today in Vancouver BC. 30 tons of flour blown into the pit in 2 hours and only left about 10 pounds of dust on EVERYTHING. Could have went a lot faster but it would have been TONS messier.

Yowsers! That looks messy. I would've freaked out to have my truck so dusty

Had a weird situation on Friday evening. Unloaded into an old Guppy/Pig that had a broken vent hose line. Normally the hose coming out of it has a 3" male fitting that can be hooked up to the silo to vent out. The hose had one of those windsock deals on the end to catch the pressure. Well.... Because of the poor ventilation, I was left after the unload with almost 10 psi of back pressure left in the tank and the line. I had it happen before and when I went to take off that hose... I had to put my whole body into it and brace for impact. I took it off and crimped the hose before it blew out all of that pressure. Accident waiting to happen- I like having front teeth... Long story short I tried something. I shut down the PTO after unloading and let all of that tank pressure drain through the blowdown valve. I then opened the line valve to allow all of the back pressure to come through the tank and drain out through the blowdown. When the hose was close to flat I closed the line valve and took it off. The back pressure before that made the hose fully expanded and you could stand on it and it would support you!! Way too much back pressure to take off safely. I was worried about product coming back and settling in the tank but on the next load my tare weight was the same. Obviously this is a temporary solution until that vent line is fixed but would this really cause any damage? It's just air. I have dome lids that are sealed by air lines. I can't really see that being a problem. What about back pressure going through that line valve ?

Nope the back pressure wont cause any issues. We often load our trailers out of rail cars and we blow the flour back thru the main line and into the trailer and then have vent socks on the top to contain the dust.
Yea there wasnt much I could do tho. First time to this customer for us and the customers first time have flour brought in this way. I guess it normally comes in on hoppers. Blew the trailer off best I could before hitting the road then just booked her 430 miles home. They are going to wash it in the morning before my next load.free2fly973 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info! I didn't think it would but I had to ask. It's not a routine occurance so the other couple of drivers weren't sure. I'm just glad I still have teeth. Looking good up in Spokane my friend. I'm starting my countdown haha
