I wouldn't bother, because like you said, they don't pay enough.

    The data says otherwise.

On the contrary. From your final linked source:

The data indicates that more Americans than not have been participating in the stock market since at least 2018.

    Also from that source:
"As of 2021, the top 10 percent of Americans owned an average of $969,000 in stocks. The next 40 percent owned $132,000 on average. For the bottom half of families, it was just under $54,000. In terms of what percent of Americans own stocks, the answer for 2023 is about 61%. While stock ownership has been on the rise, it's still down from the high of 63% in 2004 according to Gallup"

Difference in ownership and distribution of ownership. Top 10% of individuals own 30-35% of all publicly traded shares in the US, so the benefits of rising share prices and dividends is not felt evenly.

None of that disproves my previous statement.

You said that "Though corporate profits are high, and the stock market is booming, most Americans are not sharing in the economic recovery." is a lie. The top 10% own more than 30% of corporate equities and mutual funds. The bottom 50% own less than 2%. Rising stock prices and dividends are not translating into real wealth growth for the majority of Americans. If it were, we would not be facing a "retirement disaster"

It is, as was proven by the very data you linked.

Quit trying to spin the truth to suit your position with all this class warfare BS. It doesn't matter who owns what percentage of what. The simple fact, as proven by your data, is that more Americans than not have investments in the stock market and as such are benefiting from the market's growth.

No, thats just factually incorrect, the data provided showed that the participation for the majority of people in any stocks is clearly below 50%, simply owning stocks at all puts you closer to the top 25% in the usa.

[QUOTE="snicrep, post: 13012211, member: 29107"Someone risks capital to start a business and reaps awards or loses.[/QUOTE]

This is only actually true in small buisness.
