In terms of what percent of Americans own stocks, the answer for 2023 is about 61%. While stock ownership has been on the rise, it's still down from the high of 63% in 2004 according to Gallup"
Difference in ownership and distribution of ownership. Top 10% of individuals own 30-35% of all publicly traded shares in the US, so the benefits of rising share prices and dividends is not felt evenly.

No, thats just factually incorrect, the data provided showed that the participation for the majority of people in any stocks is clearly below 50%, simply owning stocks at all puts you closer to the top 25% in the usa.
