I'm the possible future trucker that some guys on here hate and others tolerate. Some even like us..:biggrin_25525:

My question: What is it that you guys/gals actually LIKE about driving truck? There's gotta be a reason you all do it.

    jjsiegal Thanks this.

For me, it's that whole idealistic "different view out of your office window every day" thing. It's a chance to own my own business doing something I love, and I guess a little of that sense of adventure. Sure, most of what you see are flat runs of interstates, but it's certainly awesome to know I'm going from Ohio soybeans and corn rows to Florida palm trees in a couple days, then cacti in Arizona in just the span of a few days.

I enjoy seeing different places. Not being stuck in an office with no windows. No one really says anything if I decide I want to stop & smell the roses. Only job I've ever had where naps are encouraged. I drive for Schneider, and I'm pretty happy here. Yeah, I would like an un-governed truck, and I know what I have to do to get one...I'm just not ready to make that leap.

Gawd knows it ain't the money! ;)

For me, it's the freedom & solitude. As long as I pick up and deliver my loads on time my company doesn't care when and where I stop for a break. And I have no boss Micro-managing my business.

I don't need to be "managed" to be productive and earn a living. I enjoy the independence even though you're not really "alone" with Qualcom systems
