I will never work in a building again ... I personally suffered from every respiratory problem out there until I started driving and I can honesty say while getting all this fresh are I have had like 2 colds in 8+ years ...

my office is awesome ... with all the fresh air I need ...

Hi jimbo, 1st, and foremost, nobody here hates you. If they do, they shouldn't be here. If someone that has done a job for many years(me and many others) can't help or look down on ,someone wanting to get into a this profession, they are sad, sad people. Everybody here started out fresh, and relied on someone to break them in, and I for one, want to return that favor.
For me, it was that magical era, the late 70's, music was king, cruisin' was in, fuel was cheap, and jobs were numerous. I always was a motorhead, and yes, a partyer, and trucking combined all the above. I couldn't believe I got paid to cruise around, listening to tunes, and partying with my buds. Then came marriage, and children, and drug testing, suddenly, it became a job, something I had to do, I didn't have a choice, I had house payments and mouths to feed. For me, the next 25 some years, it was just a job, and I vowed when all those things were done, I'd get out, and I did. Make sure this is what you want to do, and you'll find, most, if not all, the great people here will help you out.

I love the fact that you can see the country at someone else s expense. I also like finding out where different products are made and come from. Meeting different people from all over the country and meeting new friends

Wade 73 pretty much said it all but I will add, I don't have a dispatcher, I consider them travel agents. I work when I want, could never go back to the 8 to 5 grind in the same place every day!

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, and Y2k posted some beautiful pics of this great land of ours(I think they were our country), but for many local drivers, you go over and over the same routes day after day. I used to be a dump truck driver, and did 6 or 7 loads to a batch plant every day, or did a linehaul job for a freight company, and did 2 loads between 2 big cities, and I got to tell ya, that get's mighty old after a while. Just so you don't think trucking is this non stop vacation where every day is a new surrounding. That can be possible with OTR, but even that, after so many years, can be repetitious. Sorry.:smt102
