Yeah in that case, nope. No slip seating here, either. My truck, my oil change at 300 hours, my ... just mine.

Sounds like you did it right and it paid off with a wide variety of work. I think I would be going nuts and get mentally beat down if I was still swinging doors and banging docks. The vast majority of time I pull my own flatbed, but often get power only with tankers, dry van, oversized trailers (sand chiefs for fracking sites), or get to drive trucks for our customers on our drive away program. I'm happy, there's always something new every day, and I get to take trucks and go play in the mud.

I got this opportunity by staying put for two years with Swift. Two years was the minimum requirement for this job.

Good on you for having a great gig with a good company. I envy your open deck oversize work. That's where I want to be as a steady diet.

    Samarquis and G13Tomcat Thank this.

I did, man. Did USX( yeah go figure) for two.... then Transport America (for 2) then FedEx/LineHaul (for almost 2) and then the 'doors' opened up. I've tried flats in the winter when asphalt doesn't flow; just never really learned the craft. Y'all are a special breed; I'll give you that, fer sure. Was looking at H/H but this asphalt gig is SO dang good, "why walk away with your head hanging down" .... ya know?

    Kudos, man. Much respect.

    Samarquis and Lepton1 Thank this.

Where is he keeping the truck? I’m assuming it’s running from rangeley/Kingfield area to Hollis?

Yes.... I parked there several years ago and like you say it's a pain to get out. Stopped there two weeks ago and the memory came back to me. Pulled out and went up to the service plaza on 87 and did my 10.

Rocky start so far. Got to the shipper at 630 when they opened, had to wait 45 minutes for a safety meeting and equipment pm. Then took a while to load. Put me an hour or more behind where i want to be. But i got started and im on my 30 now a couple hours down the road

I expect you will like Wisconsin much better than Miami. I recommend Kwik Trip truck stops in that area. Very nice places.
