The ramblings of a rookie

Unloading at the lowes flatbed dc in thomaston nc. I dont know how you dry van guys do it, all the hours of waiting. Ive been here less than 2 hours and im bored out of my skull lol

 

Unloaded the thomasville lowes, reloaded in roxboro, NC. Got to the shipper and had no idea how they do things, so i pulled right in onto the inbound scale, got "spoken to" because i apparently was supposed to wait to be hailed on the radio. Had a variety of miscommunications while i was there, but no major issues i suppose. I got loaded and left. Some places seem to be used to the regulars that just know the routine there.

Rolled from there, spent monday night at a loves somewhere in VA, made it to the Maybrook, Ny TA tuesday night, delivered Portland, Me wednesday morning.

Found a big scrape on the side of my trailer while i was unloading. Up ahead of the landing gear, only on the rub rail. It looked to me like the truck that had been parked next to me at the TA my have clipped me with his trailer tail swing. So i called the boss, explained the damage, and that i suspect I know the cause but Im not sure. Id like to think i wouldnt have hit something without knowing, but when an unidentified mark shows up i guess you just never know. Boss was totally unconcerned though and just said #### happens.

Left portland, picked up a short one to get further up state. Delivered that (late-thank god for forgiving receivers) and smoke it for home wednesday night

Reloaded yesterday morning for Columbia, NC and went home again. Headed out sunday at the crack of dawn.

Still learning the ropes as i go, but i feel like im always improving too

On a positive note...

Got a 40qt coleman powerchill 12v cooler this weekend. No more wasting food when my ice melts.

Supposedly its good for 40 degrees below ambient temps

Between that and the lunchbox oven i should be totally set for most meals
