Not much to update as of now. Delivered my load I had on when i posted wednesday, deadhead manchester, nh to an undisclosed location in northern maine to load then home. Delivered that to western mass thursday, deadhead 300+ miles home. Back up North to load again today and home early for the weekend.
Finished out the week in the daycab, which is why i was running empty so much. Backhauls take time, and time means overnights, and overnights in a daycab cost hotel money. That made for a boring week, but every load delivered is another experience in the books.
Thursday I got to my delivery to find a line outside the gate, with flatbeds untarping and unstrapping outside. So i got some practice rolling my tarp in a confined space (basically the ditch) and it came out okay. I am enjoying how different the experience is with pretty much every receiver. Thank god for google maps at least so i have an idea where to go lol.
My truck is supposedly ready to run for Monday. It'll be good to have a bunk again, and finally be able to have things set up for myself. I'm pretty skeptical that it's fixed completely but hey, it won't be my tow bill if its not.
Enjoying my weekend then off to Rhode Island I go monday morning!
Attached is a picture of "my" truck, not attached to my current load.![]()

You almost hit that deer perfect. Never slam on the brakes, just help Bambi on her passage. Then pull over to check for damage. Even with a hamburger helper mounted on the grill Bambi can easily bend a valve stem on a drive tire or worse.

Got the call yesterday the freightliner is ready to roll. Brought the wife and the little one into the shop to clean the interior and set myself up with some basics. My daughter thought it was amazing lol.
Off to bed early tonight. Heading out somewhere around 3am to hit RI to unload, reload an hour away, and get as close as possible to my 2nd unload before the 14 is up.
This should be a good test. Hopefully the old 600 holds up for me and we can have a long and happy relationship lol
Safe travels out there everyone. -
This is a really great thread, and I’m glad things are working out for you and hopefully continue to do so. Subscribed!

Just a matter of curiosity here. I've never been outside New England, with the exception of Albany and Queensbury, NY. With the talk about us travelling further, I want to volunteer for longer runs. I hear people constantly complaining about how much "the northeast sucks". My question is-is it really that different? What makes the Northeast suck compared to the rest of the country? What is it like out there? Lol. I understand that these are broad questions, but I am curious what to expect i guess.Lepton1 and Snotrockettt Thank this. -
I'm in Warren in Knox County. I don't leave the state very often. Maybe once a month or so. In my 20 years of driving I've only spent the night in the truck once.
Paddlewagon and Samarquis Thank this. -
Ive been through there a few times. I'm from just north of the Bangor area myself. And my question about the rest of the country wasn't necessarily directed at you lol.
I dont know that I could drive in state that much. I get bored running the same road over and over. I spent a few years hauling cars on a straight truck mostly in state and that became too routine for me pretty quickly.Lepton1, Texas_hwy_287 and Snotrockettt Thank this. -
