Delivered Monday near Boston. Wasn't preplanned for a load out of there going west so I parked at the pilot on 84 looking for something. Watched all the news about the weather heading that way so I packed it up and went home. Had the truck serviced Wednesday and lined up my loads for next week. Good to see your still here be safe.
Truckermania, Lepton1 and Samarquis Thank this. -
I had Monday-Thursday off. Just a combination of my planned days off (mon/tues) and plant shutdown for wed/Thursday for the holiday. I made it up to sugarloaf 3 times this week for some great skiing, especially considering it’s only november.
I’m still really enjoying my local gig. Surprisingly, I don’t get as bored as I did when I drove OTR. I’m only ever in the truck for at most a few hours at a time and even that’s rare so that’s probably a big part of what keeps the boredom at bay. Still, I thought for sure I’d have a serious issue with running the same roads/areas all the time.... so far so good.
Glad you updated the thread! Hope everyone had a good thanksgivingSamarquis, ncmickey, Truckermania and 3 others Thank this. -
Glad to hear it from all the usual suspects and that youre all doing alright. Slim its good to hear you're still liking the local work. I question my choice to step away from water on a regular basis. Theyve done good to keep me home lately though.
Hit the road today and headed up north to load. Ended up loading for lisbon, nh and running that down, which puts me on my first night in the truck in 2 or 3 weeks. Hanging out at the p&h truck stop in wells river, vt for the night. Hoping the storm isnt too terrible because i have to run empty up to the canadian border for my backhaul. Kinda nice being here though, i used to eat here when i lived in vermont. Its like a little piece of another life, so im pretty relaxed.
Hope everybody stays safe with the storm coming through.
More to come... At some point lolWesternPlains, Slim51, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
Just another run of the mill update here. Finished the Vermont run in my last post, and headed to amesbury, ma to deliver. Ran back to the shop from there and got myself a treat lol.
We had some triaxle loads that needed to be moved, and being that my truck isn't permitted for out of state triaxle loads, I got back into my old Western star - the deer Slayer itself from post number one- and hit the road for a few days. Big lumber load to Mass, logs coming back
#### didn't it feel good to have all that power and my 18spd back!! I'm back in my road truck.now though. Went home for the weekend and I've been out both nights this week so far running back and forth to Mass. It's tentative as of yet but next week I may have an Ohio run, which will be a nice change of pace. We will see what happens.
Life is improving on my end. Definitely been in a bit of a funk the past few months but things are looking up!
I hope everybody is doing well
Stay safe out there -
Just down the road from you in Dover, NH. Woke up to 19 deg. I can't carry any load out of VT. Just too heavy. Those funks will happen, like the weather they will move on after a few days.

And the rookie rambles on...
Another "milestone" the other day. I've now been working for the same employer 9 full months now. Things are still going well. despite some hiccups with communication I'm pretty happy to be here. I take pride in who I work for and that's a nice feeling.
I left home today for independence Ohio, which should make for a nice ride. I don't officially start the week until tomorrow but I ran it down to the kittery truck stop on the state line for a 4 hour head start. I actually did some grocery shopping and stocked my truck this week, which I've really been neglecting. It'll be nice not to eat my paycheck on the road this week haha.
My new truck has arrived from Freightliner, so this should be my last week in my international. I have mixed feelings on that one. It's a 60" midroof cascadia specced heavy so we can do triaxle loads with it. I wouldn't mind the smaller bunk (going from a 73" high top international LT) but its kinda a bummer to lose my top bunk. I enjoy bringing people on the road. I'm sure it'll be a decent ride though. It won't be ready for a week or so while it gets lettered and has the headboard installed etc.
Now I'm off to have some dinner (in my truck) and be lazy till morning.
Stay safe out there. Keep the shiny side up.
More to come laterHighway Sailor, Slim51, Lepton1 and 3 others Thank this. -
Sorry I have not updated recently. I just came back out on the road after home time. My last delivery before home time was in St. Mary's, Colorado west of Denver. It was a harrowing experience to say the least but thank the Lord I made it. I found this youtube video that shows the road I was on. I delivered about where this video starts out. I had to go up and down this road which took me a good hour both ways even though only about 8 miles. Be sure to watch the video to see the wicked switchbacks. The weather was not good like in this video either. There was plenty of snow on the ground though at least the main road was not as bad as it could have been. Enjoy!
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I picked up that machinery load in Dover,NH on Wednesday ran it to my house in PA and did my 10. Showed up at the receiver @ 1130 thursday am in Proctor, Wv and they tell me they were to go to Dover and check the equipment for proper operation prior to it being shipped. Sat there till 1330 Friday for a crane to show up an off load the 27000 of equipment. Took all of 30 min. Life goes on.
Lepton1 and Truckermania Thank this.
