Just putting this out there... Hours of service dont work.

Example? : today i started around 130am. Drove my 11 plus a long lunch, shut down around 1-130pm because DOT says so. Im wide awake. I managed to force myself into a short nap, and im trying to do so again, but realistically I could have driven several more hours and not been too tired, then gotten a restful.nights sleep. Now instead im starting at 11pm... I'll be perfectly fine to drive but not as fine as i could have been.

Well, I'm not 100% on this. But i believe i survived untarping lol. Took forever to get to miami, and i had to stop for a 15 minute power nap, but i made it down, got the load off, and got as far as the fort pierce flying J.

All in all, I am enjoying the south. But I'm honestly not a big fan of Florida itself.

Got a flying j rewards card. Not sure what its good for, but I got one. Up until this run I've never even been to anything other than a circle k/irving, an independant, or the willington, ct TA. I like flying j so far though. This is my 3rd one this week lol

Gonna stuff myself with Dennys and try to get some sleep tonight. Off to statesboro, GA in the morning, then pointing towards RI to unload and head home.

Im really liking the long run, but I really cant stress enough how awesome my employer is. I make great money and I have been home every weekend so far.

I did have a bit of an expensive OOPS today though! I failed to fully investigate my route, and chose to just follow the gps after a quick once over. Coming into port st. Lucy i believe, it directed me off 95. Just said take state 70 to state 91. So i did. Just to wind up on the florida pike, with no cash, and no "sunpass" (i thought ezpass was everywhere...). Called the boss, he said just run through it and let them send the bill... Only stayed on enough to get back on 95. Im sure itll be an expensive bill, but I suppose if thats my biggest issue I cant complain too much. I told the boss I would willingly pay any penalties incurred by that detour, because it was 100% my fault.

    Oh well

    Stay safe out there

    Feel free to chime in

Yeah I have still not figured out Florida's toll roads. Some are inky Sunpass, I think maybe some take EZ pass, and some are bill by mail. I usually just try to avoid the toll roads in Florida.

Well, I'm not terribly active here, but if it helps you inspired me. I put in notice today with my job(great pay, but extremely stressful) and started the process of getting my CDL. So we are out here...

Good luck! While it may not be a stress free job, its better than most Ive had.

What part of the country are you from? Have you worked out any sort of plan to get started?

I'm from the Atlanta area, I have a couple of companies I'm looking at, one of which may require me to attend a local trucki nbn g school. My main concern is testing on a manual. And the company I really like I think tests on automatic, so that may be a no go.i think I'd ultimately like to pull tankers.

Yeah, that would be a bad idea. Just finishing up my Jimmy Dean egg, cheese, potato and cheese breakfast. And it was brought to me by my new Hot Logic Mini. I love this thing! And I love Jimmy Dean!

Good luck with it! I hear there's lots of money in the tanker business. I would definitely try to test in a manual so you dont have a license restriction if possible. I hope it all works out for you
