I hope that my concept works. Up -down 800-1000$ on 300 miles, and 450-500 $down .I know that I'm taking a hit down ,but sometimes I ,2 leg it,but then a day is day .I don't like tying my day up on500-550$ all day .I prefer to take one hit to get back to my money lane if I can help it.We run dry vans.Any suggestions out there?

I'm not really sure what the question is

I'm trying to figure out how to run.I can get a good load up,but have to settle for a cheap load down. I. was wondering would it be better to run a triangle?

Can you load, drive, unload, reload, drive, and unload in the same day? -
You gotta aim for lets say 5k for 5 days. For example you go from MI to PA for $1300 and come back for $700. Something like that. The same for triangles, you just gotta figure out what each lane pays and keep watching the market conditions to adjust accordingly.

When it was hot to trot on our end, a simple load going back to our customer was good enough. If there was a direct load going back to the plant then we were offered it. Made it easy to get another load and run. However your rare should already factor in a deadhead back to your customer. Work it out on paper which generates you more money. If you can do multiple runs a week, that might net you more money. If it isn't possible, then dancing around can work.

I love dry vans. I don't know what it is about those trailers, but let's do the math.
How much is a brand new dry van compared to brand new reefers? Forget flatbeds, cause we aren't going to haul oversize, or tarp, or any of that. We are talking about box, and one if temp controlled, and one is not.
When I did dry vans, I always had 2. Actually still got 2 brand new ones thanks to a deal that went sour for me. Anyways. Typically, not always, but typically dry freight doesn't pay as much as controlled temp freight does, so we have time. What I used to do is pick up two loads in the same day. Added an extra day of delivery just because I can. I would run back and forth within that region, and always had a trailer loaded with freight. One thing is when market gets hot, and you get this load, that load, but overall two dry vans, run a regional (500 mile radius) for about $1200 min per trailer loaded, and it takes wok, but as far mas math, it makes money.
I take a reefer load now, let's say 500 mile load, pick on a Monday, delivers Thursday. Ok, Typically It will be over 4/mile. I'll pick it up, park it. Grab a dry van, pick and drop, backhaul, Pick, park, Grab the Reefer, delivery, Backhaul, pick, park, pick the dry van deliver, back and forth. With dry van you got time, but run regional, 500 mile radius that even less a mile, but more Gross, and a bit of work can add up especially at the investment. Now when the market is hot, run that for the best rate possible, and rent out the other trailer.
