Some early fall (mid September) colors showing up in Idaho & Western Wyoming

US 89, Near Palisades, ID


US 191, near Hoback, WY


Will be headed across Montana next week for the first time in a few months. (From southeastern PA out to Seattle via Fargo). Hopefully see some nice color across there. Then should be headed home from there for some time off

 

Best drive I've ever had, seemed to go on like this for hours and barely saw any other vehicles. Perfect roads, weather, scenery and wildlife.

Been years, but I'm pretty sure this was Hwy 30 eastbound in ID headed into WY.

 

Anybody know what this is? It's in Montana.

 

Missile launch site? Similar to the ones at Vandenberg.

 

Yeah. I missed getting a better pic of an earlier one closer to the road that also had a building adjacent for whatever they do in those facilities.

it's kind a unnerving thinking about the times that led to those being put in. And that they (many) are still 100% ready to go on a moments notice, and most are in the most peaceful and rural places in the USA where you just would not expect such destructive capacity exits just below the surface.

I wonder how long you could "look around" one of those sites before they arrived to do whatever it is they'd do to "trespassers"

 

@STexan, I would say go try and "look around" to see what happens, but then we wouldn't get to see all the classy pics you post from all over the country. Keep up the good work and stay clear of that razor wire...……..
