The simple truth about marten transport

Here's a news flash for you...Marten is NOT a unionized company, so therefore, why would we call for a "truck strike" ? Whatever that is..Perhaps you should actually think about being a dues paying union member before you start complaining so much about what the IBT does or not do. If conditions are so bad, then organize them..You went to work for a crappy company where you have no rights..What did you expect ?

 

I've been a Teamster since 1965...Retired in 2002 as a Teamster carhauler.....NONE of our dues money ever went to a politician or a political party....Teamsters have D.R.I.V.E. which is their lobby in Washington and is funded by " voluntary " contributions from members....( None forced.`)..It's true that most unions support Democraps....I never have with one exception....When Dick Gephart of Missouri was running for the nomination years ago....The reason I supported him : His Dad was a Teamster milk hauler...The Teamsters are only as strong or as weak as it's members allow....They are a " bargaining agent " and because of this bargaining....I have had wonderful wages ....medical and now when I'm old....Great pension...Also...My company didn't go broke because of Teamsters....They are in fact hiring and expanding....One of their advertising boasts on their web site is .... "Providing professional on time delivery with Teamster drivers"....One more thing...In my 37 year carhauling career...I was involved in one strike...In 1985 we went out because the companies wanted to start new drivers at 70% of scale...year two...80% of scale...year three...90% of scale.........NEVER would they have reached full pay scale...So we went out....Young carhaulers today don't realize if not for old farts like me ...they would all be working for 10 % less than they are making

 

Where did i say / imply marten was union.

I left Marten in May, for a much smaller finacly sound company where we can go righ tot eh owner of the company with our concerns. No need to filing a griveance, going thier the steward, just me and the owner, and a hand shake. No screaming, either.

Screaming boss! or a boss who is never wrong? Marten Refrigerated transport/Kraft foods are capitalist, they capitalize on the drivers who drive for them.(meaning they will use a productivity chart to rate your performance) " If your not happy, Leave.", said my ex-boss...

 

As slavish and scared American wage units are, corporations can do just about anything to us, we'll just spread our buns wider and rationalize everything to employer's advantage. Yup, if you are unhappy, there are no places to run, so it's either spreading your buns your joining soup kitchen crowd.

 

Good luck on trying to stop companies from shipping jobs to foreign markets.Capitalistic greed is what drives them to do it,I mean why pay an american more money when you can take those jobs to (for example) Mexico & pay the employees about $60 or $70 dollars a week & basically get them to do whatever you want.Conditions in some of these countries are so poor that the locals are happy to get their hands on whatever work they can & of course our capitalistic thugs are banking on that to make their insane quarterly profits with no regards for anything besides their personal bank accounts.Shame on them

I suppose making it a law that all should be paid equally, regardless of job, ability, or effort would make you happy.

Is there greed? You betcha. And your precious government is the greediest of them all, and yet you want them to have more power over what you perceive to be "the root of all evil" (my words, not yours).

But you can not legislate fairness and/or happiness, because they're different from person to person.

There's too #### much "legislation" now.
