He could be Swift's best recruiter if that happens!
I want to make it know that I am on Sheriff's team. I can't stand to see one wanting to work and can't. Trucking is total b.s. in that aspect. Some that want to work can't and other that want to be home they give them all the loads they want.
Rock it out Sheriff!
The start of my first year with Swift.

I'm now in Mira Loma at the terminal. I drove all night and was able to deliver my load an hour early. After that I came to the terminal, did a few odds and ends and hit the sack. I can sleep like a baby with the A/C running. I set my PTA for tomorrow morning so I could get my clock back in order. I thought it might kill me as far as loads, but not the case. My butt was dragging bad from not sleeping. Anyway, I got another load to pick up in the morning and away I go.
I was sitting in my truck talking to my wife when I felt the whole rig jolt, stuff fell on my head, and I was thrown forward. I had to look outside to make sure it wasn't an earth quake and then I heard the brake set. I got off phone and walked to the back of the trailer I'm hooked to. Sure enough, another driver had back into me. I couldn't see any damage, but he did move the whole works about 4". I walked around to talk to the driver and he was on the phone...grinning. I told him he hit the trailer and knocked stuff down in my truck. He just nodded his head, jabbered some language I couldn't understand, and kept talking on the phone. The truck he's driving is a 2014 model and it's already beat up on the corners behind the sleeper. I'm guessing Swift doesn't know about the damage his truck and I doubt I'll see him in the LCQ class for at risk drivers...lol
My punishment for curbing the tire is I have to attend the Close Quarters Training. I wonder if I showed up in full kit if they would understand? I doubt they would have that much of a sense of humor about it. Probably get hauled off to the nut bin. I'm pretty sure this isn't the close quarters combat course I used to teach...lolkerosene jockey Thanks this. -
You use to be able to report those drivers, especially if you got pictures of their damaged equipment and truck number.

Am I the only one that waits anxiously for the sheriff's next post?

Sheriff1/6 Thanks this. -
Nope, I lurk on the forums but am eating his posts up. I just got my 1yr health card (bp issue) and am taking my permit test tomorrow, then letting my SWIFT recruiter know I'm ready to go. Hopefully all goes well and I'll be in Lewiston in a week or two. I hope this ends up being the best worst decision I ever make.

I slept in a bit this morning. I was really dragging as I slept a lot. I'm sure I'll hear about the idle time, but I don't care right now. Sleep was lacking and effecting my decision making.
When I was doing my pretrip this morning I see that the guy who backed into me had gone. It didn't take long to find him. He is a mentor and they drove around to the side I was on and were trying to back up between some trailers close to me. They guy who backed into me saw me watching and recognized me as he got a real sheepish grin and kind of walked away like his mother was calling him. He was trying to guide his student into the spot and they were having a heck of a time. I was finally able to do a little escape and evasion to get out of there with my life. To think this guy is a mentor is scary. Makes me wonder who caused the damage to his truck.kerosene jockey Thanks this. -
I was in Mira Loma 2 days ago. When I was there, there was 1 spot left. It was about 2200 and I had to drop my empty and pick up a loaded. Someone got that last spot before me. What a nightmare that place can be! After 30 min of circling the lot waiting for someone to pull out, I just dropped my empty in front of a row of red tagged trailers... Hooked up and took off.
Im glad everyone goes to mira loma for some reason. That means I always have a spot at Fontana! I've never had a problem getting a spot to park in Fontana. -

I don't see why they would do that! Mira Loma doesn't have the capacity to hold any more. Kicking out Central would buy a little space, but not much. Not to mention the lack of showers and laundry room for drivers. And where are all the office personnel going to be put!?
sounds like a bad idea to me! -
I was told the new building was going to be in the dirt lot they cleared out, out back. Right now they use it for trailer parking. Supposedly the project has been held up for years because of a little critter that lived back there. I guess it got ran over or something and now the project can start. I agree with there being no room now. It's going to be crazy.
